I have white plantation shutters (wood) in my house in Wheatfield and I absolutely love them. I'd get them again in a heartbeat. They are very easy to keep clean. I'm not going to spend my life cleaning........too many other fun things to do.......and with a little microfibre gadget from Bed, Bath & Beyond, these shutters are dusted in no time. I'd definitely recommend the plantation shutters.......but different strokes for different folks.

What do people recommend for sliding glass door leading to the lanai? I'm not wild about vertical blinds......what are other options? Thanx!

Dawg -

We love ours too. You can also get shutters that slide for your door to the lanai. I have seen them on a friend's villa and they are spectacular.

I love mine and they are not the hard to take care of. They do block out the sun and you can open tops for light but keep bottom closed for privacy. I also have them on the lanai sliders and love the clean look of them. Carl Siegel did our shutters and everyone notices them when the see the house for the first time.

Just ordered them for my entire house with sliders for the lanai doors. They should be ready in a couple more weeks....can't wait. I also used 48 hour blinds. Thanks for all who recommended.

Default Blinds & Shutters

We just moved down to the villages from Pittsburg, and shopped blinds & shutters from Gator Blinds & Shutters their number is 352-789-3834. We loved their fast service, and the price was very competitive. Their installer is certifided and did a real neat job!

Do you know certified in what and by whom? I didn't know blinds and shutters installers earned certification.

Default certification

Manufactures of shutters and blinds do not sell direct to consumers, but some internet re-sellers do. The home owner is then responsible to measure and install. If they make a mistake, oh well! A blinds and shutter contractor does well to get with the manufacture and get the proper training to insure they will be installed right. This is supported by a letter of "certification" from them and the consumers warranty in the future will not be an issue. Posted by: Larry S. Feenstra owner of Gator Blinds & Shutters 352-789-3834

Try ww.blinds.com. This will give you pricing information. I have used them a number of times for my Gardenia. Very satisfied with pricing and service. It takes less than 30 minutes to install each window by yourself. Skills level required is minimal.

Just had Gator Blinds installed a few weeks ago, big variety to choose from. Unlike other places I called this place at least answers the phone.
Had vertical blinds of various sizes installed with lifetime warranty. Had many styles to choose from ($ - $$$) for any budget. Had 4 sliders and a large window done for approx. $1000. for fabric lined verticals. Great choices, textures and colors.

Rick at 48 hour blinds who advertises on here has an excellent product and stands behind his work. I absolutely think he does a great GREAT job.
His number is listed on this page and I can't find his card ...and I just left a message to do some more work for us yesterday..........

I really think his crew is top notch.

48 hour Blinds...Rick is his name and his add for blinds is located right on the top of this: "the talk of the villages" page. Excellent quality plantation blinds. Be careful what you buy from others he will guarantee his blinds and show you the difference.
