Default Alligator in pond at Marsh Bend Lowlands course.

Visitors stay off the golf course. We had a men's tourney at Lowlands and a kid ran out from a hole 9 house to meet his parents to see an alligator. The ball landed between his legs as he jumped over the ball. Parents just stood there even though we were yelling to them to get off the golf course. No consideration of safety and the golfers by visiting parents and kid that almost got beaned.

Would have been interesting if the alligator decided to keep people off the course.

Posting here does not mean that people who live on a golf course will read it. Much less understand if they don’t golf, the danger they could potentially be involved in.
Then again yesterday at grey fox, the twosome behind us hit on on the green as we were walking up to putt.
Either they had no clue about etiquette, or the fact that we had to wait at every hole to tee off because of slow play.

Less dangerous walking on a course between play, than someone deliberately hitting into you.

We have a lot of people that move here who have never played golf. They get here and encouraged by The Villages decided to go out and "try golf". They rent a set of clubs make a tee time and head to the golf course not knowing anything about the sport. It's a disaster in the making. They'll hit when people are in range, drive their cart on the green walk or even drive carts through bunkers. Then they'll be astonished when someone talks to them about their behavior.

In other cases, people buy houses near a golf course and believe that a golf course is a nice place to take a walk. They simply don't know any better.

It should be up to The Villages to explain some of this basic stuff about golf to non golfers.

No one should be allowed on a golf course until they have taken a course on the etiquette of the game and have demonstrated the ability to at the very least, make contact with the ball and move it forward 25 yards or so.
