Has anyone experienced problems with their pole lamp? Our has been blowing out the bulb everyone once in awhile. We have replaced the bulb around 3 times in the last few months. Also does anyone have a good electrician to recommend in case we need one in the end? Thanks for your help.

If you have not tried this I would use a halogen bulb or LED bulb

I had that problem in my first house here and it seemed to be due to moisture as there was an opening in the glass inclosure. In my current house, the bulb is fully enclosed with glass and it lasted a year. When I replaced it, I used an LED.

You probably have water leaking in and shorting out the socket and base. It is a big problem with the cheap builder's grade lamps the developer uses. Get a rubber washer that fits over the base of the bulb put it on and screw in the new bulb. The hardware stores sell individual washers that will fit. While you are at it, put washers on all your outside lamps because a good driving rain will short those wall mounted lamps too.

Jim9922 and many others here are spot on. Dependant on what type of fixture you have, you are spending up to $83.00 per year on that postlight. Often the bulbs blow from a poor connection at the base, water and insects getting into the socket, etc.
LED bulbs use a small fraction of the electricity regular bulbs use. They typically last up to 22 times longer than a regular bulb. If you get them with a K rating of under 3000 bugs are supposed to see them less, helping it stay less "buggy".
With the cost of LED bulbs going down, you will save boatloads of money within the first year. It is basically a no brainer. Hope this helps!

This is a great example as to why to live in The Villages. Have a problem with our pole lamp. Ask the neighbors and they respond to help. That is what makes a community great.

Had the same prolem - LED bulb solved it.

We had a bunch on our street that kept blowing out. Remove the top as though you were going to replace the bulb. Flip the top over and you will see the nut that holds the decorative top on the cover. caulk around this nut with silicone. They all leak. This will solve it. Also if you use an LED bulb, they emit light in a part of the visible spectrum that bugs can't see. You'll spend a lot less time cleaning the lamp post.

Thanks to all the good neighbors in The Villages the lamp is terrific with the new LED bulb I put in today. Would never have thought that would be a solution.
