Default Poor AT&T coverage

Since I bought an iPhone last week, i can't receive or make phone calls from my home. They are constantly dropped because of a poor signal. I didn't have a problem with my basic phone. The AT&T tech told me that different phones have may different coverage in the same place. He also suggested I download the AT&T app called AT&T Mark the Spot and send a report when I have a problem. He said the engineers DO take the reports into account when adjusting the cell towers and making recommendations for new towers. Please download and use app. Maybe it will help increase AT&T coverage in TV.

If you purchased an iPhone 6 and have wifi at home you should be able to make calls using your wifi from inside your home even if you do not have great coverage inside the house from ATT. We live North of 466 and our old iPhones both work fine in our house. I have had issues south of 466a even with good cell signals, I suspect they have have a bad tower down there....

Checkout this link, scroll down to the wifi section...it mentions initiating calls on your wifi.

Don't worry there is a solution. We had bought new phones and had a similar problem. Dropped calls and couldn't really make a call. We bought an AT&T Microcell and now we have full bars all of the time. Hopefully it will work for you although there is no guarantee of course. You can call AT&T and negotiate with them (possibly a supervisor) how much you will have to pay for it. We did buy ours used on here for $50 and you may have some luck advertising on here to see if anyone is selling theirs. It is how I got mine. Just be sure to have the person you buy it from deactivate it from their account.

Exclamation Depends on Location

Do you live south of 466A, etc. If so you may be in an area that has weak or any AT&T signals. AT&T knows excatly what areas are covered or partically covered. It takes about $1M dollars and 18+Months to install a tower or get approval to place a tower. An At&T technical person or executive can bring up on their laptops the coverages in The Villages, what is not covered and areas that fall into overlaps. It is key to communicate to AT&T headquarters in order to ensure they know you are one that has problems alhough they already know which are problem locations. I would be surprised it is the phone if others are working well?

Thank you. I now have a case opened with AT&T and may get a microcell from them.

A Microcell is a box that connects to your router via cat5 cable. It creates a cellphone zone in your house and routes the call through your broadband internet connection.

Also, try this - Go out to the front yard. How many bars do you have? Go inside. How many bars do you have? If you have great reception outside and none inside, the addition of cell towers won't help and a micro-cell is the only solution.

The houses which have rebar and poured concrete exterior walls make great Faraday cages...

Not exactly. It doesn't boost the cell phone signal. It creates a new, small cellphone zone in your house and routes the call through your broadband internet router. You need internet access for it to work. It will provide cellphone service in your home for areas that have no cell coverage or very poor cell coverage.

It look like they have a new option where you can disable handoffs to cell towers. This should solve the issue I had a couple of years ago where attempted handoffs to weak cell tower signals resulted in dropped calls.

poor ATT service in Fernandina on our flip phones. I assume the problem is with the tower, not the provider. anyone know for sure?

We live in Hillsborough and had to get a microcell tower in our home. Works great and we complained enough to AT&T and they gave it to us for free!! Just tell them you live by Brownwood and have no signal and they said they were giving them to folks down here because of the poor reception.
