People can see the can is overflowing yet they leave their nwanted mail even on top of the can. More unwanted Mail is lying on the ground.
I picked it up and took it home so that the wind does not scatter it all over. Keep the The Villages beautiful. Is it so difficult to take and sort your Mail at home?
This happens a lot at the Buttonwood station. Not sure how the others are.
I was walking my dog near the Paradise post boxes and observed a man and woman pull up in a golf cart, extract 2 bags of beer cans from the basket, and drop them by the garbage can. They then left.
I have seen garbage by the post boxes more than once. Don't know why people feel the post box is their private dumping ground.

When I get someone elses mail I just put it in the slot so the post office can redirect it to property party.

For example when the mail is for the former owner of our house give it to the post office to forward.

Mine, too. Trash is put where it belongs—in trash cans. I’ve never seen cans overflowing.

Much adieu about nothing...

They are supposed to but generally do not. I regularly get mail here for the (deceased) previous owner. We also have a PO BOX at the PO in Lady Lake (keep forgetting to cancel it!). We rarely get anything there in our name but literally a medium size box FILLED with the previous 4 or 5 owners junk mail when we clean it out every 3 months or so. There is so much junk mail from the previous box owners that the PO people leaves us a note to have to go to the desk to pick it up. They say they won't forward it since it is junk mail without a forward required payment and we should just toss it out IN THEIR WASTE CAN.

Did you know that EVERY public service provided by the government, is NOT a regular business? Government services aren't SUPPOSED to make a profit. They are what the government does with revenue. They are, in part, why you pay taxes.

Perhaps... now that people know there is no recycling, more are dropping off their junk mail instead of taking it home and recycling it?

Why aren't enviro-fanatics screaming about the trees that are cut to create all that junk and the dilemma it creates in trash management? They're so invested in getting rid of plastic straws, but never complain about the extreme amount of wasted paper in junk mail!
Of course, the reality is junk mail saved thousands of union jobs at the post office. Twenty years ago, the USPS was threatening to reduce mail delivery to 3 or 4 days a week. So what? Most messages are now sent via email or text. "Snail mail" is a relic of the past. But, any reductions in service meant the union would have less workers and less dues being paid. Can't have that! The more junk mail to be delivered, the more workers they have to employ!
I love seeing the overflowing of venom toward unions here in TV Land and the US in general. In Germany, their unions and management work "hand and glove" together for their company. It keeps Germany's economy growing and more people happy and satisfied with their jobs. The US could learn from this example.

Like most of us, we take our 'junk mail' home and toss it...

I have to say that it feels like we are being inundated with many more catalogs and requests for donations this year than ever before
Now that there's no more recycling and everything is going to be burned anyway, I save a lot of my junk mail in a drawer and use it to upturn my coffee ground basket on. Slam, and then into the trash it goes. I've heard it is not good to put coffee grounds into the disposal.

Correct, but they could be good for your garden as fertilizer.

But it turns out that coffee grounds contain a good amount of the essential nutrient nitrogen as well as some potassium and phosphorus, plus other micronutrients. ... To use coffee grounds as a fertilizer sprinkle them thinly onto your soil, or add them to your compost heap.

Where I lived prior to moving here all state and county parks removed trash cans. It was carry in carry out. Guess what..they saved money and the parks were cleaner
That IS a good policy if the state succeeds in enforcing it. And then the citizens start making it a habit.

If the cans are not for mail , or a soda cup from your car than what are they for?

You are correct that you should put your home garbage bags there or your dog poo bags there.

But than again look at how many odds use the play areas for their toilets or run areas .

I find the more people that live together the more problems, and the village authority do nothing to correct it.

Merry Christmas

It’s easier to get it from mail. Do you really think some criminals are that smart or want to go through that much work!

Seem to me u people need to find a life. Just police the area as a jester of kindness and if u see someone defacing the area in a nice way tell them To pick it up and take it home. Matter settled
