You all have made some great comments and have given us a lot to think about. This one made us laugh!

And we are able to hear the sounds of nature every hour of every day and we love nature. We have lived with cart paths right next to the rear of our lots and it has never been a problem. BTW, very few people ever even look at our home, at our windows or into our birdcage, they are much more interested in their game of golf than they are looking into the homes they pass by. If I ever want their attention I have to holler at them as typically, even when sitting in our birdcage grilling, sitting and reading or simply passing the time of day, we have all the privacy that we want. We would much rather have a golf course behind our home, even if it meant someone occasionally gawking our way, than have another home backing right up to ours. *That's* when people look into your home. Just my opinion. |

When we purchased in 2007, the "edge of the Villages" was well North of 466A. From my 20 years as a real estate broker, I truly believe you get the best deal buying a resale and renovating to taste. Because we are maintaining a home up North, we can't afford to spend a fortune on our home in The Villages. It may not be true, but a Villages Agent told me that the lot premiums on new builds for a view lot like ours would be at least $100,000. We back on a pond, no fear of errant golf balls and the cart path is at least 600 feet from our birdcage. Our view lot cost us peanuts. While a resale home isn't for everyone, for our seasonal needs it's great. And the TOTV gathering at Crispers is two minutes away!

You would never offend me, no worries. You're right, I am geographically challenged, and occasionally Fireboy has to dispatch a drone to find me.

Armed with a camera.
Sending a drone your way if you go off the radar again. Is life in The Villages the way you imagined it? I guess it's too soon to tell, you are still unpacking, right? And dealing with your pantry that fell apart. ![]()

Just a thought. My wife came up with a statement yesterday after reading the posts here. She would have been OK with paying more per month, ($50?) which would cover the cost of lawn care, mowing, trimming, etc. Seems as though a contractor that got the bid for an area of homes, Village, to care for would be vigilant on the quality of their work if they wanted to keep on working in TV. The Del Webb communities have this and the homeowners are pleased overall with the service.

It's nice to have time to myself while the other half is playing for nine months out of the year in TV. I love my job and I having a hard time leaving it. It's not really a job, it's a family. Not ready to sit in that swing yet. I was up everyday when I was in TV, 4am ran for awhile, swam 4 miles then walked with in the evening. Then I still had 16 hours left to do nothing, not ready
