We love the rec centers and thought we would spend lots of time in the rec centers involved in clubs, exercise classes etc. We were (and still are) fascinated by the many options in the rec news each week.

The reality is that we are busy doing other things. We are in water aerobics almost daily, but never set foot in the rec centers. We golf and enjoy socializing with neighbors and friends in each other's homes. At least I know that they offer a pleathera of activities which we can take advantage of at any time. We are busy here, but doing things other than what I envisioned.

We survived the long hot summer quite well. I was worried about the heat and humidity coming from Utah which is quite dry. We left Florida in '91, partly due to the heat and humidity. But here in TV, we have acclimated much quicker than we thought. That was a very pleasant surprise.

We have moved three times. Never thought I would back up to a road, with the view of a pond but we love it.

Asiantree, were all of those moves inside The Villages? If so, why did you move?

We are seriously considering moving to The Villages and we are curious what you may have liked or disliked about certain neighborhoods.

We are on house one, but "they" say on average villagers own three houses. My guess is the first house is too big or too small, the second house is the opposite of the first house, and the third house is just right.

We are on our second. You can move on a whim here, because if you want to sell, it is easy to do so, if your house is clean and fairly priced, and it is far less expensive to hire someone here to move your stuff. We sold our first house by ourself.

I like this house fine, but wouldn't rule out another move within the boundaries of The Villages, if something would come up we like even better........after all, we are young yet.

P.S. Nothing wrong with last house and certainly nothing wrong with last neighborhood. We wanted something a little bigger when we became year 'rounders.

In 2007 we bought a two-bedroom courtyard villa because we're seasonal residents.
We have a northern home, and we thought that a CYA would be fine for our needs since we're only in TV in the winter.
Then Fireboy joined RC Flyers.
In 2010 we moved to a three-bedroom home with a large garage, which now contains a workshop and 14 RC Flyers.
We wanted to stay in the same Village because we love the convenience of a mid-Villages location.
We ended up having more winter visitors than expected, so a third bedroom is important to us.
We traded our golf course view for a pond view. We both agree that the pond view was our very best decision.
In retrospect, we evolved while living in The Bubble, and we couldn't have anticipated the lifestyle changes that led to our move.

That is a very interesting comment.

Do most of you agree that a mid-villages location is more desirable?

There are many advantages to mid-village and I don't see any disadvantages unless there is one particular location that you want to be close to on the edge.

A different prospective..................We wanted a new home, so we did South of 466a. The travel time from South of 466a to mid-villages is 15 minutes by cart, five by car. Not an influence. Some love North-villages and that is the best for them.

If you are up around 466, you have most of the shopping and some restaurants and pet food store, and the Lifelong Learning College right at your fingertips, plus the best dog park around, plus being that much closer to the big box stores on Hwy 441. You will also be able to find gas heat and cooking. The landscaping, both of your house and your environment, will be mature, unless you're in the newer premier section up there.

There won't be any new housing, though.

You can't set in your golf cart and drink while parked at the Square either.

The answer is "it depends": we live 5 minutes from Spanish Springs and 10 minutes from Sumter Landing (by golf cart). I work out at MVP 3 days a week, our doctors are within 5 minutes via golf cart and we eat out every night so our location is perfect for us. While we prefer The Landing to The Springs we are still close enough that it has never been a problem.

We are in our first home and it will be our last. We had built two homes in the mid-west so we knew the size and amenities that were important to us, including being on a golf course which we felt lucky to have found in our "quick" purchase. We were fortunate that the very day we decided to buy (before we sold) the first home we found on the internet was the home we purchased. While we *completely* redid it we are beyond delighted with our "new" home.

As you will probably find, nearly everyone loves their location and think it's the best that it could be.

Enjoy your analysis, reviewing and searches for your new home and best of luck.

TV is even more than what we expected that it would be. I'm betting that you'll find it to be the same with you.

I don't wish to upset anyone whose home backs on to a golf course, but do think carefully about the implications of living there - the golf course maintenance can start early and be noisy; chemicals are sprayed on the greens and can blow into your garden/lanai; does the golf cart path run on your side of the fairway, because it can be human nature to look in to people's houses while driving past

Likewise with homes near a pickleball court - noisy from dawn until dusk?

I thought my house would be more salable being walking distance to Brownwood. I thought I would walk to the square and sample the music a couple of times a week. I don't.

I also thought that if I golfed once or twice a day I'd be pretty damn good by now. I'm not.

I thought I would enjoy gardening. I don't.

I thought people who spend a lot of time on social sites wasted a lot of time. I'm guilty.

I thought since I have all the time in the world, I wouldn't be rushing out the door to make a tee off time. I still lolly gag around.

I thought I wouldn't be able to be the class clown anymore. Even when I was the teacher I was the class clown. I still get to be me.

Like most questions in life, it depends on what you want. Living in Mallory is great (for us) as travel to Chatham to see my Dad (extreme NW) and to travel to Brownwood (extreme SW (unless they build more)) is about the same.

No matter where we go, it is reasonably close.

To be clear, we did not pick this after great investigation, but it was where the dirt was in 2007 and IMO we got lucky.
