Hi Alex,
Could you please give the name of the decorator you used during your design meeting?
Thanks,
Maryanna

Default It's all go in Gilchrist

Hi Everyone, this is an interesting thread, as we have lot 29 on Amherst Way in Gilchrist.

We are flying over from the UK on Tuesday for a few days to have our Design meeting on Wednesday the 27th and have done a list of wants and hopes, but are sure that there will be a few things that will change when we get back to TV and start looking at the Model Homes again and finding out the prices of all the extras in our 'dream home'.

Then we are back to the UK until November and we hope that we will be completed and in by Xmas!

What are the 'Bumps' that everyone is refering to, are they refering to extending the footprint of the home?

Maryanna, your designer is assigned to you from TV, but I believe Alex hired someone on her own to assist in her design choices. Not sure if I have that correct, but I believe so...

John and Wendy! I am also in Gilchrist, on Amherst, lot 25. My build begins tomorrow and I have completed my design team meeting a couple of weeks ago. Your design team rep will work with you and go through your list and help you along the way. Mine (Pam Sherwood) was awesome! The bumps we are referring to are additional space one can add to the home itself. For example, one can bump out a wall 2 or 4 feet on the sides or back of the house for extra living space. You can also add to the garage for storage.
If you want to send me a message (PM) I'll be happy to answer any additional questions. FYI, I close on Dec 5th! So I will definitely look forward to meeting you this winter! Please stop by whenever you are in town!!

John&Wendy29: We are lot 32! Finished our design meeting Sept 16th...close on 12-12-12 (hard to forget!). We will not move down until next summer. HotRod is a great resource for stretching/bumping. You can always PM me...we are building an Ivy.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Our Design meeting is Thursday not Wednesday - must be suffering from jet lag and we haven't set off yet!
It looks like many of the homes will be finished in December, might be tight for Xmas for us

Default Design team meeting Oct 1

Our design team meeting is Monday Oct 1. Seemed like it would never get here. Lots of good suggestions have come from the posting here and some PMs from folks that have gone through it already with everyone feeling good about it after it was over. We have the same anticipation, apprehension and excitement that others expressed before their meetings. So many decisions to be made in a short period of time and no matter how many spreadsheets or wish lists or advice you get beforehand, you still wonder if you will be up to the task or make a dumb decision about something.
There are some "must haves" on the list: physical size of the house will be expanded as much as the lot will allow, will add more lights in the kitchen, living room and maybe closets(these old eyes need more), full extension drawers in the kitchen instead of lower doors and shelving, moving the washtub to the garage, larger cement pad outside the lanai, add golf cart garage, pocket sliders for the lanai, extra "cubbies" in the shower and extra towel racks. We have ideas for everything else but until you see the rooms again and how things go together, easier to just wait. Well, maybe not easier as that is where the anxiety about all the decisions sets in.
I have a few years to retirement so this will be a second home for us for a while and perhaps a rental for the winters. My wife said if we don't like it, we can always sell it and do it again. Right now we are on Allaire Loop in Fernandina unit 205 but if we find a better lot Sunday or Monday it could be different.
Thanks to everyone for their input both on the public postings and the PMs. It really opened our eyes as to what modifications you can make. It's only $ or perhaps only $$$$. Hopefully we'll be posting later next week about how easy it was and asking for some help with pictures as the building starts!

It's a lot to take in and due, set a budget, stretch anyway you can, remember your Lanai is important. Our Design Consulant, Lisa Lawson was wonderful, very helpful and she made it seem like the stress was gone. Enjoy.

Exciting times ahead for you! You seem to have made wise choices and I wish I had thought of the extra nooks in the shower! I am having just one large one in each of the 3 bathrooms.. Another would have been handy! My build started Monday I could still add, but don't think an extra like that is worth the 250 change fee!! However, if I come up with more... Best of luck in your new venture, and the process is really quite easy. I had a lot of apprehension beforehand, but I needn't have been so anxious! The designers have wonderful vision! I am certain you will be most pleased with your choices!!
