I don't understand either. Auto and golf cart are not included in the $1600. There is no mortgage on the home whether that makes a difference or not.

There are companies writing policies.

You may think you have a great bundled quote from state farm. Most likely your paying too much for your auto insurance!!!
Call AARP THE HARTFORD for Auto Insurance. You will shocked how much your over paying for Auto Insurance with State Farm.

Angry

Just talked with USAA & they are no longer writing policies in this area due to wind damage roof claims.

Just bundled multiple policies with State Farm. Best price I found. You can’t generalize about companies. Some want your business, others don’t. Keep shopping

If you have no mortgage, Florida law allows you to buy home owners insurance WITHOUT windstorm coverage. You take the risk and self insure. I went from $7500 to $1100 doing this in Dec 2022 on a $484 k home.

Agree. Was getting quotes and State Farm was $800 less for the hone policy, with sinkhole, but the auto was $400 more and the umbrella was $550 more.

We go back further with progressive, and NEVER have had a claim even with previous company (which left Florida so we had to go with progressive). Started int he Low $500's, is NOW $2160.... so, don't complain too much or they'll raise you from 1K to 2K. By the way, the "roof" scam, is just that. A one year, or for many of us, a 6 month small reduction, then it sky rockets again on the next renewal. Yes, it is definitely a Florida problem, we pay big time for the natural disasters... and to some extent, everyone in every state with every insurance company also had to pay for us to live in paradise, even with hurricane season ! ?

Flyers999, remember it well ! That next morning, when those HUGE over head traffic signals in the villages (Belvidere & 466 for one) were still in the street, just too much to clean up immediately, and we reached 441 to turn south and check on some friends in Ladylake and the scene was like a nuclear attack ! NOTHING, absolutely nothing, trees looked like a forest AFTER a major forest fire, church on left gone, no sign of it... a real horror show !

That's about the summary/explanation. For YEARS people raged (uselessly) about the "unfairness" that people who eat a reasonably nutritious diet, do not smoke, engage in regular physical fitness activities of some type, etc. are paying for the "spread out" costs of the higher incidence of cancer, diabetes, and heart disease in those with poor/poorer life habits. It is what it is. A few companies considered, and some actually developed a tiered system where smoking employees would pay more for their insurance... one of those types of things that are really not controllable !! Insurance is to spread RISK. Except for a few small reductions for safe driving, we still ALL pay for the habitual speeders, the uninsured, the teens and the 80 somethings... that's what insurance is, as you and others have said !

True. Also, seems a lot of people ARE getting good rates from AARP Hartford (we were with in a different part of Fl or years, but after building here, were told they were no long insuring here ?? So finally went with Progressive, which has without fail raised auto and home premiums to mind boggling amounts for people like us who have been fortunate enough to have never had a claim, or been involved in an auto accident.. it's a mystery how underwriting works.
