There are multiple companies that pick up trash: Sumter Sanitation, Tri-County Sanitation, and Waste Management are three. It is important to know which company services your area, mine is Sumter Sanitation.

The 6:45am message was probably poorly worded. It probably should have specified that Sumter Sanitation had canceled. Using the term "Waste management" in the message was confusing. The new 9:50 message includes:

SANITATION: All Sumter Sanitation routes have been canceled for Monday, August 5, 2024. For those affected, collection will occur on the next scheduled collection day.

All scheduled Waste Management routes have been launched; however, based on current weather conditions, materials that are not curbside during regular collection pass will be serviced on the next regular collection day.

And yes, 9:50 is a bit late for a notice. The best use for this message is to explain why your bags are still in your driveway.
