That is not acceptable for a gallon of mike or really even for the bulk of my shopping. It takes about 9-10 mins to Sweetbay but we know their selection is limited. Once you get to Publix lot it is a struggle for the next two hours to get a spot and to get in and out. Add to the fact that is it basically unsafe to shop there even if only from a fire egress point of view. I wonder how much over the legal limit they are for fire code?

If we are making a "south Villages" wish list I would like a Trader Joes and a Walmart or a Target superstore. A Wendy would be nice as well as some decent restaurants. When I moved here they never mentioned we would be the ******* step children for so long. In 2009 they said retail was coming to 466a. I guess they meant the tire store since that is the only new place I can think of. We are on our knees down here. Oh yeah, put Costco on that list.
Not sure if this is supposed to be a joke or that you are serious. It takes a "whole" 8 minutes to get to the store! If you can get to 441 Publix in 20 and 466a in 8, I figure you can get to 466 in 10. But seriously, that takes too long?????? Your retired for goodness sakes! Maybe they will build an eatery, grocery store, movie theater, dr.'s office and a dentist at your mail slot!!!!!
Geez, I'm still working and am never in that big of a hurry.....

Default Left stranded

We, South of 466a are left to be stranded. Do they really think that one little plaza that contains an over crowded grocery store is enough to appease us??? It's so frustrating to try to go get a few items at Publix. We must have another grocery store and a target, or better yet a Walmart closer to us. The closest one is in Leesburgh on 441 which is a dump. I sure hope things grow quickly at this end of town so our lives will be just a bit more simple and convenient.

Happinow-your not in n.y. now. Do you really think that a lot of what you ask for will be build? Last summer you did make a visit to the area what did you expect? Your in a large housing build up there are many through out the u.s. , you have stores to shop in within the area stop complain you surely knew what you were getting into. As for calling local stores dump that is making friend and getting along with the local people. Many people shopped in the leesburg store before 466 was build.
Just the other day you posted that you had to park your golf cart way over by the golf store to get to publix, what a great walk

We've all been through this. When we first moved to Virginia Trace we had to go to the Publix up on 466. It was crowded, there was no Sweetbay and Publix was the only game in town. And everyone north and south of 466 was in there shopping.

When we moved to Hemingway Publix seemed deserted. I agree that now it is crowded but be patient and more markets will start popping up.

Think about all the places you've lived over the years - was there always a grocery store just 3 minutes away? Was your favorite restaurant right down the street?

If it takes you two hours to find a parking spot and shop at Publix you must be circling for that perfect spot and really buying a lot of groceries.

I think it's not really about me....from what I read on this forum many agree that we need more stores at this end of town. I feel that you are attacking me for my opinion. That's uncalled for. I just figured that with so many folks voicing that there needs to be more stores down this way, someone may read it and pass the word along. Who knows.....maybe they will build it. The people, will surely come. And, from what I see with Walmart, the one on 441 is quite run down compared to let's say....466. Just my observation. And, When I shop anywhere, be it a crowded parking lot or a fairly empty one I park way out in no mans land. I do it for two reasons....first so nobody will open their car door into my new SUV......I really would rather not have my doors all dinged up, and.....I get some exercise by walking. I love to walk and stay pretty fit. I was saying that I had to park all the way by the golf cart store because it gives people an idea of just how crowded it was. I would have parked there anyway. Please don't make this thread a personal one.....I'm just putting my 2 cents in just like everyone else.

Please no more chain restaurants although a Paneras or NY Bagels or a TooJays (yayayayaya) would be fine. There is already a MacDonalds...BTW: There is an ACE on 301 next to Wells Fargo.

Knowing Happinow as I do from this forum I doubt there were any complaints in the post. Simply an opinion that many of us share and I agree no need to attack on a personal level. I am in Hadley and shop at the Colony Publix and it is ridiculous. Always crowded, parking difficult, but the good news is they have lots of cashiers so the lines don't get too bad. Hopefully we will see some relief in the next few years.

Colony Publix is overcrowded in the morning but not bad in late p.m. and evening. Another supermarket in the new sections south of 466-A is truly needed, as are Bob Evans, Denny's types of places.

Target would be an instant success in the southern end, too. Lots of us want to avoid Walmart no matter how conveniently located they are.

Great saying! It's a simple freedom people often forget about.

Are there other variations of that saying, in other regions of the country?
