Default Publix - Bichara Boulevard

Many years ago I shopped at P and later that day got a bogus charge on my credit card, so I stopped going there.

On Saturday I bought a few items there that I couldn't find anywhere else, and later that day got a bogus charge on my credit card.

If I ever do need to go back, I'll use cash.

Were the charges from Publix or somewhere else? Did you tap your card or swipe? Unlikely that additional items could be added after the receipt was printed. Highly unlikely (impossible?) to steal your number if you tapped.

Does seem suspicious though, unless you stopped somewhere else when you were back on that area.

Report the charges to the police and as noted above tell them where you used the card. Notify your credit card company and get a NEW card immediately. Also, this could be a complete coincidence, I had my card charged while I was at home and not using the card for the whole day. I have email alerts for all charges and was able to call the credit card company and had the charge stopped all within 15 minutes.

I shop at Publix almost every day, always use a credit card, and have never gotten a bogus charge. It is really unlucky to get two fraudulent charges in two visits separated by years.

What did Publix say?

Whenever you get a bogus charge on a credit card, you should immediately log on to your bank website and "lock" the card. This is much faster than calling the bank. It immediately stops all transactions and most likely will prevent the bogus charge from going from "pending" to a "completed" charge. Credit card charges are first posted as pending and then change to completed within about 24 hours or so. Locking the card also allows you to unlock the card later, if the matter can be resolved without the need to get a new card.

I shop at Publix almost every day and I always use a credit card and the tap feature. The charges are always posted as a "Publix" transaction.

1. Start with Publix and 2. Call your CC company, asap.

That’s our go to Publix, always use a credit card (tap it), and have never got scammed. When we first bought here, one of our cards was declined at Publix because the location was deemed unusual by the credit card bank, but after a phone call explaining we bought a second home in the Villages it never happened again.

You can call Publix, but they most likely won't be able to answer your question without doing research. If their card machine has a skimmer, they probably won't even know about it. I would lock the card online and then call the credit card company.

1. Call your credit card company and 2. Call Publix. Who should investigate the skimmer and if there is one physically onsite to remove it?

I have shopped there for 15 years as a regular customer and I have never ever had a bogus or fraud charge on my card after shopping there

My morning everyday ritual:

Make the coffee.
Pickup the morning paper off the driveway.
Open my computer.
Pull up all four-credit card web-sites and check my charges.
Verify my checking account amount.

I been doing this for 25-30 years or more if I use my Credit Cards or not.
Once in all those years I had a fraud charge that I called my Credit Cards to get a new card with a new number.

Yes, I do have a life after I do my ritual

The first time it was a Publix charge, but in a different state. Saturday's was not a Publix charge.

My bank notifies me every time the card is used, and actually put a stop on the recent charge rather than letting it through. They must have recognised the charger as suspicious. I looked it up on-line and that company provides travel insurance (which I never take).
