Default Purchasing a Golf Cart

My question is, when purchasing a golf cart is it similar to buying a car? Is it a negotiation on price and or options? Or is it a set price...you buy cart A with options ABD, and G and the price is set at the menu prices they give you? No trade just straight up cart plus options.

Thanks for input

In my experience, most places are negotiable. They take trade-ins and you have choices of color, and options such as tire and wheel sizes, lighting, enclosures, seats, etc., etc. Shop around before you settle on one. You may be surprised at what kind of deal you can make. Our last cart was bought with 2 trade-ins, site unseen. They took our word for the condition and quoted us a price right there. Have fun!

Agree. There was no negotiation.

The same with Carts & Clubs. The prices are pretty comparable between the two, but keep in mind that you need to make sure of who will service your cart. You might get a cheaper golf cart elsewhere than from the Villages store or Carts & Clubs, but you might be pretty low on the service list (if at all) as they will provide service to their customers versus non-customers. There are plenty of threads out there with opinions on where to purchase.

Beware of The Villages Golf Carts. We purchased a Yamaha gas cart from The Villages 3years ago. It has a 5 year warranty and to keep the warranty valid, the cart must be serviced annually. The first 2 years the cost was $75 (including pick up and delivery). This year it is $130!!! The cart can be serviced at any Yamaha dealer but guess where the nearest one is - Winter Garden. Perhaps others don't feel $130 is too much but when it went from $75 to $130?????? What will it be next year, etc.?? Guess they have us now but we will never deal with them again.

Default Villages Carts

Not only that, my sunbrella, 2 yrs. old, is of poor quality, is tearing from the zipper and doesn't come close to the quality of two of my neighbors' carts bought at Ocala.

There is a lot of competition for golf cart sales .. I would definitely do some negotiating.

We just bought a loveseat at a furniture store in Ocala. People who shopped there told us the prices were firm, no negotiation possible. My husband politely asked if the price they gave us was their best price, and they reduced the price by $100.

Is it possible that they did some work on the cart that wasn't covered by the warranty? We had ours serviced last year and still paid $75.

Ours was $75 last year but when we called to schedule this year we were told it would be $130. They now charge for pick up and delivery of the cart.

Default Warranty?

I have 2 new Yamaha gas carts, which by the way saved over $2500 each on, and read my Warranty. I didn't read anything about cart having to be serviced annually. Where did you read that in your Warranty?

The warranty references "neglect" as a means of voiding the warranty. Can neglect mean not proper servicing? I don't know. Also TV gives an extra year of warranty based on having the annual service.
