So, you also sell lightning protection systems, jack of all trades?

One thing I will say about Xfinity is they now tell you the 1 year and 5 year promotion prices and what the price will be after the promotion is over. Unlike Spectrum, they tell you the promotion price but I couldn't find the price after the promotion anywhere on-line.

Quantum fiber is good, but they lie about the price being for life. They told me that mine was $30 for life and then raised it in about a year. Nothing is for life.

Yes we spoke about that. They did it one time in the past 4 years when they were converting over to the new Wifi7 equipment. They really didn't lie. If you read the agreement they can raise the price for a whole bunch of reasons, equipement costs are one of them.

I’d rather have an occasional price increase than to put up with the dismal customer service of Comcast and Spectrum. I’ve had both of them and will never go back.

Since you mentioned cable, Yikes, did you go to Xfinity's web site and see the new pricing? They must think people are stupid. They show a 1 year, 5 year and Everyday price. When you do the math, you can save some money but not that much. Same with Spectrum. And no matter what, if you go with them you will be put on their "over sold" network and get whatever speeds you can get at the time. But I did have a friend here in the Villages that got great speed most of the time with cable but we discovered most of his neighbors switched to fiber so the network segement he was on had plenty of bandwidth.

Me too. I had their $70 for two lines price for life plan. Until it wasn't.

Since you mentioned it. With cable you should install a cable specific surge protector on the line coming into your house since a lightning induced power surge can and does come into your home from the copper cable line. They are available on Amazon. With fiber, since it's non-conductive, no surge protections is needed.

Default New price increase

Just got an email today with a new $5 a month price increase effective in November. Now paying $45 a month for the 200 mbps service. That’s 2 price increases under the guaranteed price for life plan.

I just checked the pricing and nothing has changed and I haven't heard this from anyone else yet. Do you have any extender pods? If so, how many?

Also, which Village are you in and if I remember you got your service about 2 years ago?

I know Quantum only gives you one remote pod for free and after that they are charging for them. The only other thing I can think of is are you using the direct debit payment or are you using a credit card or some other payment method? Maybe the cost for not using direct debit has gone up?

The reason why this seems odd is if you are paying $45/month now, then you will be paying $50/month which is the 500Mbs speed so something doesn't make sense.

I have seen the same thing. I am now at $45 per month for what was originally stated as one-price-for-life at $35 per month (2 price increases). I have had their fiber optic service for over 11 years and I am happy with it but the one-price-for-life promise, after I converted from CenturyLink to their rebranded QuantumFiber, was not kept. This has also happened with several of my neighbors.

So, just to be clear, are you now getting their 200Mbs service for $45/month or are they raising you to $50/month?

I saw this on their web site:
>>>
Bank account payment required. Taxes and fees apply. 360 WiFi and other equipment lease charges, taxes, and fees are excluded from Price for Life offer and may be increased.
<<<

I know any taxes or fees is if you get their phone service but I wonder if it has something to do with the equipment.

When their newer wifi7 equipment came out did you upgrade your equipment or do you still have the old original equipment installed?

Either way I would call them to find out to see if the price change has anything to do with your specific setup or is it just a general increase.
