Question about Market Night
Friends and I are in discussion about setting up booth at Market Night. Can anyone give me info about criteria to set up one of these booths? I say a %age of profits goes to (someone?). Does anyone know the rules? Thanks and Happy New Year to all who reads this. Take care!!

I talked with one of the vendors one evening and he said the cost was $30.00 per night. Also you have to provide your own lighting via battery or a quit generator. You have to provide your own pop - up cover.
Seeing that most vendors are always in the same location that may also be assigned and you just cannot set up where you want. You will want to check with the rec department for complete details. |

One of the latest criteria is the item you are selling must be handmade. Those junque watches and plastic belt guys have been grandfathered in. I tried couple years ago to market a hand lotion and was turned down.

I notice very few booths selling hand made items. Am I to assume that all the others are currently grandfathered? I noticed a new booth selling a battery additive. How did they get accepted? I doubt there would be enough vendors selling hand made items to support a "market night". I am not certain how one would define "hand made". |

I for one get tired of looking at the same junk! That's the best I can do to answer your question, maybe you should check with the powers to be as to why the rules have changed! |

See the Rec Department (or maybe it is the Entertainment Dept) for specifics on getting a booth. It is not an "automatic" thing. Vendors are interviewed and then approved/disapproved. This keeps us from having twelve tee-shirt vendors and no belt vendors (they claim). Vendors also have a lot of regulations to follow - set up by a certain time, can't close before a certain time, can't miss a night without penalty, etc. Costs I have no idea about. At one time LSL was going to be a crafts-type of market but I think that has been relaxed somewhat, SS was more commercial. Again, the only definitive informnation will come when you get a contract and read it over carefully before signing it.
