Everyone wants to believe the rules are the rules and they must be enforced.I agree with this and it's why I moved here also. However they are only enforced if the violation is reported and very few people would rat out their neighbors. So the fountain that never runs water,the nice lawn ornament,the camper or motor home in the road with water and power running from the house, the boat in the driveway, the rubbermaid storage locker that sticks above the villa wall, the work that's being done without permission or didn't go to ARB,the person with more pets then allowed and even though it's not in the deeds don't tell me how fast I can drive my golf cart etc. As TV gets bigger there will only be more of this happening. The only way to prevent this is to call a in a complaint. You don't have to give your name.

Years ago my wife and I bought a beautiful home in a covenent restricted neighborhood in Wilmington, N.C. While we were not big fans of living with all the rules and regulations (we had never lived in that type of neighborhood before), we knew what we were buying into and agreed to follow the rules. When enforcement started to slip and the neighborhood started to decline a little my wife and I both joined the HOA executive board and returned things to the way they were supposed to be.

Opportunity knocked and we sold our house and moved out of the country. We were sad to leave our neighbors but were proud that when we left, the neighborhood looked better than when we moved in.

We went back to look at our old neighborhood this past July and were shocked at what we found. Run-down is an understatement. Grass three feet high in front of numerous houses, cars up on blocks, some driveways had six cars in them (one of our old neighbors said that some of the houses now had extended family--as many as twelve occupants!). I've seen more attractive ghettos. I was glad me moved when we had, but we were also very saddened to see the rapid decline of this once beautiful neighborhood. We felt bad for some of our old neighbors who had stayed behind and now couldn't sell their homes.

Ignoring one rule leads to lack of respect for ALL the rules. I don't want to see this happen here.

Heck we absolutely could not have outdoor antennas and this family wanted everyone to ignore the rules because, heck, they were nice people. Yes, they were....until they wanted all to ignore this little rule for them. It went over like a brick balloon.

My point is and it did take me a while to get to it, didn't it.... we have some in TV who feel that some of the rules are insignificant and infractions of those rules are not earth shaking....true, but when one acknowledges that they have read the rules and by purchasing their lot, acknowledges that they will live by them, why do they suddenly decide not to? Is it because they have come from an area where they had no such thing? Guess I'm very sensitive about this, having had to deal with many irate neighbors, take some to small claims court, etc, in order to keep our community as nice as when we first moved in....and we were the second family to move into the development.

I'll get off my soapbox now, but maybe only one foot. The other one is still up there....just incase I feel the need to sound off again. The rules here aren't difficult to live with. Okay, other foot is now firmly planted on the ground.

These are the same people who think highway rules don.t apply to them either such as use of turn signals ,stay right except to pass,going the speed limit and so on....RULES ...just follow them...

And who would better know then a truck driver from UPS who has to put up with these people who find driving secondary to chatting on their cell phone, texting or redoing their makeup and hair with the blow dryer plugged into the cigarette lighter.

Speaking of stuffed, we have a 3' tall goose that stands watch over our home in the flower bed in NJ. DW has probably spent $200 on various costumes for Mr. Goose which are changed based on the season or holiday. All our fellow neighbors seem to enjoy the display but it doesn't sound like when we graduate from Snowflakes to Frogs our Goose will be welcomed?

We live in an area that has a lot of rules. We have been here 15 years and it still looks as good as when we moved in. About 8 years ago or so, when mortgages were easy to get (subprime), we had several new neighbors move in that were clearly not up to the same economic level as the ones who had left. They started doing things that were against the covenants. I would just call the HOA and they would take care of it. Eventually, they stopped breaking the covenants and complied. I am sure they suspect it was me that was turning them in, but I don't care. They were perfect examples of people who see their neighbor get away with something and then they feel they can do it as well. All I want is to live in a nice neighborhood where the houses maintain their value. I have lived in the other type neighborhoods and it is horrible when the neighbor has an old dishwasher out at the curb for months and junk cars in the driveway and on the street and you can't do anything about it. I can't wait to get to TV, it is very similar to where I live today in terms of being kept up.

Nope, Mr Goose would most definitely NOT be welcomed in TV. If you want it to move with you, you'll need to keep him indoors or move to a community without deed restrictions pertaining to lawn ornaments.

Can't put him next to the door under the porch? I did see all kinds of items under the porches. Flags, goose (or is it geese) table and chairs, statues, etc.
