Default Gas cards

When gas cards run low on remaining funds the gas pump slows down to a trickle. The last few dollars take a long time to pump out. So while you are standing there thinking that you’re putting gallons in your tank you’re only putting in ounces. So your car was not filled up, but received a small amount of gas that used up whatever money you had left on card.

Curious about the discount on the cards that Publix sells. How much of a discount do you get? Where do you purchase?

Probably not your case, but it's happened to me that a fill up got stopped before completion. When I went in the shop to ask why, they told me I can't get into my car when pumping gas (it was cold and the pump handle had a lever to keep it going without having to press it down with a hand). They considered that a theft risk. But I had my card already set up to pay at the pump!!!!

That is not true. There is no tax relief on non ethanol gas like there is of off road diesel. If caught using diesel meant for construction equipment there is a huge fine. Non ethanol gas does not fall into that category. It is widely used in antique cars and boats etc. Check your facts before making blantly wrong statements.

If you were using a gas card you probably used up the funds on the card.

Probably the not too bright workers at some service stations saw you getting into your car and thought you might be a drive off not realizing that you have prepaid with a credit card. They can stop the transaction inside. But I doubt there are too many drive offs because almost all service stations require some type of prepayment before letting you start pumping.

Occasionally Publix has a coupon for a $50 gas card for $40 when you spend $50 in groceries.

Definitely not true. There are NO laws that prohibit the use of non-ethanol gasoline in any motor vehicle. While it is not always easy to find, ethanol free gas is preferred in many types of internal combustion engines...for a host of reasons.

May I suggest all look it up. It is interesting. As is what we read about the price of crude by the barrel. How many gallons are in a barrel? It comes from the days when oil was shipped in beer barrels. The whole thing is an interest mess. It effects all of us. Like most things that are complex the consumer ends up with the dirty end of the stick. Price of gas. It is no longer posted on the pump. Roughly 1/3 of what we pay for gasoline is TAX.

They run it on a regular basis. There is a coupon in their flyer. You need to spend $50 on groceries. We do that anyway. You present the cashier with the coupon cut from the flyer,
they bill you $40 for the card that is good for $50 worth of gasoline. That is 20% off.

Last time we did this, it was Shell or Marathon. Not sure why last time they would no longer sell a card that would work on Shell. Reason is valid, many Shell stations are now circle K and they will not honor the card.

Non-ethanol gas is most certainly not against the law, and all small engines much prefer it, think of riding lawn mowers, golf carts too. My car,( a so-called driving machine) is supposed to be filled only with high test, which in general is non-ethanol. Everything runs like a top.

I agree with what everyone said but I personally think your car computer had a glitch or there was a problem with the pump. You should of took your car to a mechanic instead of asking one of the part time employees. No way your gas gauge should of said it was full of gas when it wasn’t. I think your gas gauge was wrong or something in your on board computer needs reset or there was a pump glitch!

You could be using a gas card to fill extra gas cans....

Pump stops running? Gas card $ used up!
Duh, how could the OP not understand that? It’s quite obvious.
