I called Lake Miona Rec center and asked the person who answered the phone if they were having trouble with their air conditioning and he said "Yes, one of the big rooms, they are waiting for a part to come in".

The concept of Rec Center people not being allowed to change the temps is not accurate. I run a number of meetings at various centers and the staff is always willing to change the temp, turn on and off the fans, etc. BUT I always make sure they know who is allowed to ask them for the change. Without direction from the leader, they could be jumping up every 15 minutes to make a change for whomever asked most recently.

The title of this thread is RANT...AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT IT IS. A rant solves nothing but bringing up a lot of folks blood pressure. If you really want to solve a proble, go to those who can solve it. Otherwise it is just a RANT.

I'm still in favor of Rant Control. If when you moved in you got 3 Rants a year, it stays at 3 Rants until you leave. Higher bonds mean more Rant entitlements for the newer Villagers.

Let's not get the Complaint Department mixed up with the Rant Control Department.
Does anyone gripe anymore? It was popular in the 60's. Is griping when you complain but walk away before you get an answer?

Yes thank you. The thread was meant to focus on issues in rec centers. For ex, I did mention the lack of heat and hot water in the winter at saddlebrook. I have asked the staff at saddlebrook many times about it but usually get a shoulder shrug. I'll see what happens this winter and keep everyone updated on any progress

If you are there during the day ask to see the facilities person. They make the rules. For example at Lake Miona it is Gene and one other whose name I can't recall. They are there M-F during the day.

You need a sit down meeting with the Recreation Department & Facilities Management to air all of your grievances.
Posting your complaints here accomplishes nothing.

All?? I think No air at a rec center is a legitimate grievance as well as no heat and hot water. I'm glad to see some on this site called to make sure I wasn't making it all up. Of course I didn't have to share my experience with others but then I thought that's what this site was for , sharing our experiences. Over and out for me.
