Mmmmmm. Love Peter Lugers! Have eaten there many times. Photo Gallery

Especially liked the "doneness" legend on the menu which I don't remember verbatim but it went something like this:

Rare -- Cool, red center
Medium Rare -- Warm red Center
Medium -- Warm Pink Center
Medium Well -- Warm Gray Center, no trace of Pink
Well Done -- We do not guarantee the tenderness of any steak ordered well done.

We still buy Peter Luger's Steak Sauce. Publix and most supermarkets carry it.

How we would love a traditional steak and chops restaurant in The Villages.

How about a real sports bar like BW3, lots of different beers, tons of screens and wings

Absolutely love Buffalo Wild Wings. I think it would be a big draw here!

THE DRIVE THRU would be the creek ..great for kayaker, canoodlers and dragon boat teams!

A really GREAT Chinese restaurant.
One that New Yorkers would give a thumbs up to.

I do love the bakery idea someone came up with.

One that would be a perfect fit is BJ's Brewhouse. Great brewpub, sports bar, and restaurant all rolled into one. Price points are middle of road, great for lunch or dinner. There are several in the Orlando area all ready.

Awesome idea. I definitely am hoping to see restaurants that are -not- chains. Except pizza. I'm pretty sure we won't ever eat pizza again in Florida. Huge mistake thinking we could stomach it. Six different pizza joints in 3 different parts of Florida, and not one of them was edible by any reasonable standard.

Schaumburger 09-07-2018 11:29 PM

First Florida pizza tasting

I had NYPD pizza earlier this week. It was pretty good. And I am used to Chicago style pizza...Lou Malnati's pizza rules :icon_hungry:

A deli. Maybe Jason's Deli.

Wish they would put in some kind of heathy restaurant.

Me too, along with soundproofing panels but I think this takes it out of realistic.

I think people who put down others because their taste in food is different are very unrealistic. The market will choose the winners. It has in the past and will again. I am sure we have among us people with refined taste, but most of them also like "ordinary" things and will whip up scrambled eggs for themselves on a busy day and find them yummy.

I very much dislike equating people who have been financially successful with those who know a good peanut butter sandwich from a bad one. Or only "DINE" at expensive places. Most successful people have been around and know their way but not all are going to spend a lot of money unless it's warranted. It is my experience that monied people are often frugal and careful. That is probably one of the reasons they got "monied".

My daddy always told me that usually the ones who claim to be "monied" have about half the money and class as the ones who don't talk about it.

Bill Knapps

If they were still around, I would love to have one of their restaurants. Anyone from the Midwest remember Bill Knapps?

hairunited 09-08-2018 10:44 AM

I'm in for Uno's. I'm from Chicago and drive to Winter park to get Uno's. Portillos would be nice but not big enough!!

YES....Abuelo's is awesome! It is a Mexican restaurant with some actual Mexican flavor....and I am not talking hot and spicy, which would never go over here. Their food just has a lot of flavor. Most Mexican restaurants in Florida are so bland.

There was a Bill Knapps on High St. in Worthington. It was always busy and the food and desserts were great. Families filled the place every evening. The chain then sold and the new owners from out west decided they were smarter than the previous owners. They soon filed bankruptcy.
I get the feeling that the new owners/management bunch at Bob Evans are going to take that chain down sooner, rather than later.

manaboutown 09-08-2018 02:24 PM

Any restaurant opening anywhere needs to appeal to its anticipated customer base if it is to successfully develop and maintain a prosperous business.

That being the case just what are the demographics at Sumter Landing both seasonal and year round?

What are the food preferences, tastes and budgets of the target market: Villagers, visitors and folks residing nearby who dine out regularly?

Brio's or Cheesecake Factory

Yes, that's because it's good.

I've seen lots of folks suggest major chains like Brio, Bravo or Cheesecake Factory. Remember these are all corporate stores and the all look the same inside and out. These all might be good if they were taking over something the size of Barnes and Noble. In my opinion, the limited square footage will drastically limit the choices for that location.

Red Robin. Best burgers money can buy. Modestly priced.

On my Costco runs to Orlando...I always include a stop at one.

On our Costco runs, we go to either PF Changs or its counterpart fast food version, Pei Wei. Either one of these restaurants is my wish for the vacant space in LSL.

Guy Fieri's lost us as customers when they refused to cook their hamburgers medium. We were told it was company policy to cook the beef well done. I just can not imagine Guy being on board with that.

While I rarely drink, on those infrequent occasions I find myself going to Red Robin...I can't pass up their Bailey's Shake. :mmmm:

OH YES. I do like PF Changs. I am never afraid of getting shellfish mixed in there and their stuff is so yummy.

I have a shellfish allergy and I am never sure servers quite understand me if English is not their first language. Went to Thai Ruby and ended up in urgent care.

Bob and Ray's House of Toast

Their jingle was:
House of Toast
Gives you the most
And try our fruit juice

but i can't that audio

manaboutown 09-09-2018 09:30 PM

I seriously doubt a "Red Hen" would make it there.
