What I would like to see
Dean and Deluca great deli great food
|
Too expensive for TV, my best buddy ran their fish dept for a few years
|
Bahama Breeze would be a good choice. Would seem to fit nicely in that location. Great food and drinks. A fun place.
Portillos would also work well at that location! |
OK maybe we think outside the box. Let's do some research and come up with a place called "Back Home" There are meals that we used to enjoy when were live up north our out west that we can't find here. In SE Mich. I enjoyed gyros and coney dogs. Folks from Chicago loved their deep dish pizza. Fish chowder or crab cakes anyone? What regional favorites do you miss that we could add to the menu?
|
I would love to see one here. We drive to Orlando 6 - 8 times a year to eat at Cheesecake Factory !!!
|
I love it

I'd love to have an authentic Mediterranean/Lebanese restaurant here. In lieu of that, we could really use a high end coffee shop with real baristas who know how to do a pour-over or correctly work a French press. There isn't one anywhere in TV. I shouldn't have to travel to Orlando for a proper cup of coffee.

To expensive for the Villages
|
New venue in Villages
A great donut shop, based in Las Vegas called DONUT MANIA. Serving coffee, boutique style donuts, eat in or take home dozens. They have 5 locations in Vegas
|
Quaker Steak + Lube. Fun place. Seems to be adequate parking for carts, motorcycles + vintages cars
Been to a few of them. Great Place! |
Cheesecake Factory or Cheddars
|
Another vote for Cheescake factory. Course I love Red Robin too.
|
This thread sure has been beaten to death! Ask Fred what he is going to open next.

Bahama Breeze - If we go with a tried & true chain restaurant, there may be a chance of survival.

They're another establishment (like Pollo) that I can't figure out how they stay in business, providing above average quality/tasty fare...at such low prices. |
Duffy’s
|
You mean Oakwood?
|
Portillo's Hot Dogs and Beef!
|
Got a big smile out of me with the Bob & Ray video; remember them fondly...but of course, I was just a kid. And Bill Knapp had a restaurant in route 41 in Whiting, IN. Had many good meals there.
Personally, I'd like to see a "mom and pop" diner there; as per some of the suggestions earlier. If we had an Aunt Fannie's (only much cleaner) like Ocala, it could possibly make it. |
What about a "pub" style bar and restaurant?
|
Most chains are not going to that tiny footprint. Their kitchen alone would take up half the restaurant. Fenney grill is doing well, not because it’s the only game in Fenney, but it’s run well.
Maybe developer will take over the spot, and bring back a thriving restaurant, for couple of years. It’s a key location, but only a non corporate would sink money into such a tiny space. Our youngest manages three sports bar restaurants. When he was here he looked at a couple of sites, as he said there are endless possibilities in TV, but space is key. |
I great sports bar with many televisions and very great bar food might succeed.
A great bakery, (not a run of the mill), might fulfill a need with villagers. |
Mimi's

lotsa coupons |
My friend was a waitress there. The paychecks for the prior week or 2 bounced and they were not paid for anything the last week. This includes the cooks, bartenders and help staff. That stinks!

No, I am not single .................. yet! |
I was told ,TV management ordered the closure of Guy's--maybe the staff weren't the only ones not getting paid

I’m not even a big Pizza fan, but theirs is like no other. Takes about 45 min to bake. So we often call ahead while running errands in Orlando, and it’s served shortly after we are seated. This population might not be patient enough.....but their pizza is FANTASTIC!! |

The Villages is not ethnically diverse in population, so the idea of a Eastern or Indian spot would be a hard draw. Personally, I’d love it. But lots of meat and potatoes, hamburger folks here. We are hoping that Blue Fin down in Brownwood has real, fresh, FLORIDA, seafood. We are really tired of cod and haddock frozen. But that seems to be what the Great Lakes, midwestern, northeastern residents prefer. So that what we have an abundance of. |

Looking @ the Bluefin menu, indicates NOTHING fresh-- cod , haddock scallops, shrimp--it will be the same as his other restaurants with a little different flair

Sort of a “Fresh Market” with unusual premium brands of shelf foods and fresh fish, seafood, meat markets with beautiful flower market and bar. Unique and a fun place!! |

Well that what a lot of people do in TV, they spend $$$ on NOTHING
|
That’s really too bad. Guess we drive to Dunellon or Crystal River for REAL FRESH SEAFOOD.
It just amazes me that it is impossible to get here, 1.5 hrs from the coast!!! |
An Indian restaurant would be fantastic and save driving to Ocala or Orlando. At least it would not be another chain.
