Default Recommendations for Someone to Install Narrow Cabinet Between Studs

Looking for someone to install a narrow cupboard between the studs in an inside wall near the kitchen for extra storage. I've seen this done, but not aware of who did it. Would be good for small items (canned goods, etc.).

I'd be careful. You could be violating some codes (fire code comes to mind, where there is a rated time to burn through a wall? Not sure - just be aware of the risks and impact for resale

Check out the wall niches available on Amazon. It could be a DIY project. You just cut away the drywall, and screw the cabinet into the studs like a medicine cabinet.

That would be a problem if it is the wall between the garage and the kitchen, but not for an interior partition wall.

Not a big job. Studs however are spaced 16" on center so (assuming a 2 x 4 stud which is actually 1.5 x 3.5) that means that your cabinet cannot be more than 14.5" wide, which doesn't give you much space.

It is not hard to install a wider one though. What would need to be done is to remove those parts of the studs that would be replaced by the cabinet and install a base plate on the studs so the cabinet can rest on it, and a cripple stud or studs above them. (Check google). You could then install as wide a cabinet as you would like, though as this is a structural change you may need permission. Unless you are a pretty good carpenter I'd recommend having that hired out.
