Default "Return to Sender" mail

Morning all - Bought in May and still receiving former owners mail. I started writing "Return to Sender" on the mail and posting the mail in our Village central mailbox, but mail was then returned to me in my mailbox?? Does "Return to Sender" mail have to be mailed from a US post office please? Thanks (Dont want to trash the mail, as it will never stop).

1. I crossed off the address on the envelope and added "Return to sender". USPS will only return/forward first class mail. So I throw out non first class mail in the trash at the postal station.
2. The neighbors were in contact with the previous owner. They contacted them to do a change of address.

I wonder if you could sue the USPS for harassment?
Now. If you did, and won, they would probably pay their fine in stamps.

My postal station has a special slot labeled for mail that does not belong to you. There is another place for outgoing mail. I just put the mail in that slot and don't write anything on it. It never gets returned to me, but if it did, I would complain to the people in the mail station. If you put it in that slot, you are telling the postal employees that it is not your mail.

We did a change of address but it only works half the time, the new owners of our home still receive mail without the forwarding address sticker on it and it was supposed to be for 6 months and only 4 have passed.

I am still getting mail for my deceased wife (2006), and it has been increasing. It appears the advertisers are sharing databases. Interesting point she NEVER lived in FL, but is getting mail here!

Default You may have a new hobby

You mentioned that after about 8 months you still get mail for the previous owner...

We bought our home in 2018, and still get mail for the previous owner.

We have mailed the items to the previous owner (a very nice lady), sent notes to the post office, talked to the folks at the post office service desk. Still get her mail, but not as much.

Wishing you better luck than we have had.

Most of the mail people receive with former home owners name on it, will also say somewhere on the letter "or current resident" the post employee has to deliver it to you. Regulations

If you happen to have previous owner contact info, reach out to them and let them no the mail that you are receiving, they in turn should then reach out to said company/person and inform them of their new address, this isn’t something you are obligated to do, its just a potential solution if feasible…

Draw a line through the address and write 'Not at this address' OR write 'Refused' on the piece of mail OR the best solution ..... Just throw it in the trash.

I did not see where you talked to the post office. They may be your best advice going forward. As others have said if it says or current resident your stuck with it.

Mark through the bar code, it is sorted by the barcodes and write the correct address if you have it

LOL!

I just got junk mail for an ex girlfriend who never lived with me. .

Source: I gave her a credit card for emergencies with a $500 limit, and she used it once.

Times are desperate
or data is cheap or available from a bank hack, or the bank sold some accounts/addresses for extra money.

Welcome to commerce is now too big to manage. .
