I am waiting to see just how the recyclable material is handled once it gets to it's destination before I change how I dispose of trash/garbage. If it all goes the same way and then sorted then why bother? Chalk up the $1.75 per month as a contribution.

May I suggest that everyone who dislikes how TV presently handles trash collect and/or dislikes how recycling will be done, everyone who misses their bins, everyone who is unhappy about the types of bags being used, all get together and form a committee. Approach the developer or the CDDs and volunteer to work with whatever trash and recycling companies are available to develop a more efficient system, one more to your liking. You may have to approach governmental bodies in Marion, Lake, and Sumter Counties and Lady Lake, but no big deal. If you are strong in your convictions, you can handle it.

There have also been posts about critters getting into and ripping plastic bags apart leaving a mess for someone to pick up.

I have lived in areas where folks used covered containers with secure covers. The point I wanted to make was that adding more plastic bags to the environment sort of defeats the recycling goal. A secure container is reusable for years, adds nothing to the landfills and in many cases those same containers are made from recycled items.

To the point about them being unsightly, they come in a variety of colors, and can be painted with flowers, etc on them.

I don't present this as facts, only my opinion.
They are not supposed to put the bags out until the night before. If my neighbor is going to be gone they ask me to put their bag out the night before. That is the rule. If you have someone that does it repeatedly, call the TV cops :cop:- whoever they might be. : :dontknow:

Where I lived in NJ I had two large plastic garbage cans devoted to recyclables. When they were full I dragged them up to the curb on recycling day. I also bundled my newspapers in 12 inch stacks and dragged them to the curb. In NJ recycling was mandatory.

Instead of saying just stating the facts I should said I was regurgitating what the paper said.

I was very happy putting everything into the big black bag when I got here. I was told that the recycling was done at the other end. That was fine with me and still is.

We now pay $1.47 plus $.25 per bag I use for recycling. >

Not a fan of recycling. ??? ??? ???

This recycling system will probably change as they figure out how to improve it. Hopefully everyone will give it a try.

The bags are the biggest complaint I have. We got some last week at Ace. Too $$$ just to throw out trash.

Clarification of items to be recycled is needed. I called the customer service number and was told that Styrofoam can not be recycled even if it has a recycle symbol. Also any plastics that go in the microwave can not be recycled. Also cardboard boxes have to go in the regular trash... It makes it difficult to know what qualifies.

It will be a learning experience for all.

can't participate if we can't conveniently buy the special bags... this has been very poorly handled by stores, recycling co and tv. think i'll cancel my auto pay of bill so i can withhold the 1.47 charge for a recycling service i can't use.
