I saw a streak come straight down, it appeared not all that far away. Shortly afterwards, fire engines were rolling. Not sure if anything happened or not, but damnation, lots and lots of lightning and very loud thunder! Just hope no one stayed on the golf courses.

I just lost another computer to lightening. Last time, it was repairable. As soon as the rain stops, I'm taking it to the guy.

It's the lightning capital of the U.S.! Only a real "dummy" continues to play golf when he hears thunder or sees lightning.

We were visiting our son this weekend in Boca Raton. A big storm came up and a huge bolt of lightening hit right outside the window where I was sleeping. I felt my hair stand on end. It tripped several breakers and blew out the satellite box. I don't know if it can come through the window or not.

I live in Caroline....Virginia Trace is across Morse from my house. Lightning could have been in V.T. or not, just appeared to be fairly close.

A friend reported lightning hit somewhere in the parking lot near Publix at Southern Trace. She was there and said it got her attention! Haven't had a storm like this one that just went through, in quite a while!

I agree with you, but there are some who continue to play ...have seen it all too often. Was quite a storm!

Default Strong storm

Was at Walmart on 466 when the storm came through. It rained so hard that we were forced to stay in the store for 40 minutes until it calmed down enough to walk outside. There was a lot of thunder and lightening too. The store's lights dimmed several times. Didn't seem like we got it as bad in Sanibel.

Wesh2 News reported 2.5 inches of rain in less than two hours in The Villages. That is significant.

BUT we didn't see the warning us of this severe thunderstorm in Sumter county on our TV. AND no warning call on our phones.

Wonder why?
