We live in Hacienda Courtyard Villas and just discovered we have a problem with mice in our garage. They chewed through some wires in our car. (Thankfully, it was covered by our warranty with Honda!) But we would like to do something about it. We got some "mice away" bags that we put in the car. We have a cat, and we sprayed peppermint oil around the garage. But I am wondering if anyone has any more suggestions. Thanks, Suzanne 607-330-1440

Mice will chew through drywall and could set up shop in there. If you find any holes, patch it (or stuff with steel wool).

Glue traps work well for us here in Indiana. Occasionally they get in our garage and my out building. The glue traps usually do the trick.

My neighbor just had some work done on their roof and almost immediately we had a rat on our patio. It was rather cute, but it had to go. I use Massey and they had someone at our home that day, put out a rat trap (the commercial type which is enclosed) and the rodent has gone.
I in no way mean to be rude but did you not notice mice droppings in your garage before the damage was done. Every day when I go out for the paper I check the area around the garage door for droppings.

Another thought: Do you have any palm trees? We had a big one in front of our cyv, and at least one palm rat in our garage and car. We had the palm removed last year and haven't had a problem since.

Rodents are coming into your garage for one of two reasons. Food or warmth. Since they have attacked your car the best solution is a rodent repellant the hooks to your car battery. The box uses very little power so it won't run your auto battery down. Get a box that emits two different signals. This drives the rodents crazy and chases them away. The signals will not bother your pets. Google it.
Good Luck |

We have two large palms on the west side of our house. We feed the birds (2 feeders). We have no mice or rats in 5 years. Telling someone to keep their garage door closed, and don't store any type of food in your garage is, just plain common sense. And there's very little of that around today |

Glue or wire sprung traps work well. Had them some years ago when they came inside for the winter.
Womens lib did not work to the point of my dear wife disposing of the little creatures though. |

We use Glue Traps along the wall, which work great. Some brands are better than others, i.e. more sticky. To make them more enticing, we add a very tiny drop of peanut butter right in the middle. Glue traps also work very well to catch numerous other bugs, worms, etc.

Your lucky that Honda paid for mice eating wires. They ate wires in my brand new GMC truck and my warranty didn’t cover my $350 bill.

Ultrasonic mouse repellant can be plugged in the garage. Should work.

Newer car wire insulation is made of soy based material. Rats love it. Cost me $6000 to replace electrical harness on Lexus RX350.

Buy online those sonic gadgets that you plug in - when mice enter they hear screeching noise and will leave. They sell some that change waves so the mice can't get used to it. I have 2 plugged in my garage back north for the winter - hardly any mice dirt visible. Place them on the floor pointing out without any obstruction - they work. Got 2 on Amazon.
