Default Field Clearing

Does anyone know what the developer has planned in the area north of the polo fields. Big equipment has been working in there for about 2 weeks clearing and burning, working 7 days a week from sun up to sun down. Just curious.

I am curious too. I didn't know WHERE the big equipment was working but saw two, very big cranes exiting the exit on 466, one evening last week.

I wonder. I wonder.

Is this visible from Buena Vista? I went by there yesterday and didn't see anything unusual north of the polo fields.

When they are burning, yes, it is visible from all over but they don't burn every day.

From the online news site:
<snip>
Another CDD 2 resident inquired about burning occurring near the Polo Fields.

District Manager Janet Tutt said that the activity is occurring on private property over which the District has no authority. However, she suggested the resident contact the Villages Public Safety Department if there is a concern about where the proper permit has been obtained for the burning.

Default Clearing the field

Lately the developer(s), to me, seems like Oz, The Wizard. He is behind a screen. Essentially a nice guy, but a mysterious soul, nonetheless. And, some times it seems like he has no heart, no brain and, possibly, no courage. Sure, he runs a private company that doesn't have to say nothing to nobody. But, if he has an affinity for the people who have a vested interest and own property here, it would be okay to come out from behind the screen more than once a year to take and answerr questions about things that are going to impact all of us. Have a dialogue with us. So many of us here refer to The Villages as living under a benign dictatorship. Communicating openly with the people will fix this. By this I mean communicating directly, not merely through nice people on staff that are held at arms length.

He does come out once a year...it's called "An Evening With The Developer". Happens in the Spring so watch the Daily Sun and get your dibs in early.

Alwann acknowledged that the Developer does come out once per year.

I am the "another CDD2 resident" that asked the question about burning. Because homes surround the Polo Fields where the land clearing is taking place, I thought best not to go tramping through someone's yard! That said, the clearing seems to be occurring in an area behind Ballesteros Drive and Iberia Court. Both streets are off Enrique Drive in Village Santiago. At the end of Iberia there is a gap between the houses where you can see the clearing and the burn pile.

We have not asked if the proper permits were obtained for the burning. BTW, there was no burning today, nor did we hear any heavy machinery. One can only hope they are done with at least the clearing part of the project.

That is how the Morses are. They play their cards close to their vest and as anyone who is in business knows that is a good plan. It is easy to figure out from reading this Forum over time, some folks have impossible expectations and staying out of constant conversation is really better in the long run. Wish our president would be less forecoming.

I am a fan and people who have known them before from Michigan have sought me out to tell me they are decent, hard working people who aren't "showy". I like that. Fits my Midwest vision.

You can run but you can’t hide! That area is next on my list of aerial photos to be taken.

Default Field Burning

Gracie,
With the exception of Megan Boone, who once was reported to have used a Villages rec center exercise room, does "the developer" ever walk among us -- to put it in a Biblical tone.
For example, have they/him ever gone to Brownwood, on Scooter night, and thought, "Wow, maybe we built this place too small, considering the growth planned below 44." Has he/they ever tried to get a same-day tee time during the high season? Oh, wait. I remember being told our group was being held back because some members of the family showed up unannounced and wanted to play golf. The people behind the curtain say they believe in The Villages vision. So, my question is, do they live it? If so, why don't they tell us what they think and feel? Perhaps there is legal counsel in the woodpile.

Their place, their money. They can do damn well what they please.

We have a member of the family that shows up to golf occasionally (don't ask me where, it doesn't matter), but he does it through the tee time system.

Why would they want to come out and mingle with the general population? Most of us are ok, but there are also some nuts out there who would love nothing better than to confront them. Believe me, if I had their money, I would be select with whom I mingle with.

BACK OFF THE DEVELOPERS. They created this beautiful place for us. For those of you who don't like it after moving here, move the **** back out.

Brownwood too small? There's a ton of empty storefronts.
And if you mean the square itself, it has two grandstands and a vast dance floor.

Default Zombies

We seem to live under the surreptitious voyeurism of zombies. But they appear to be harmless if not a bit benevolent. If you see one, be nice but don't pet them.
