Default Renters--What did you wish you had brung??

We are renting for the month of October. We have lived in The Villages previously but health matters made us move back home.

My question is what did you wish you had brung with you if you were staying for one month in October??

Thanks for your help!

Think of all the things you used on a regular basis when you lived here. It might also make a difference, because you lived here, if you know a lot of people and plan to entertain. Also depends on if you are driving or flying here and what you can fit.

I would imagine a renter would wish they had brought a couple of sweaters or sweatshirts

You can buy almost anything at the good will, including golf clubs and sweathirts, if you're not too fussy. And when you leave just donate it back again.

Go through your daily routine and write things down as you go. Clothing for both warm and cold weather is important. Layers work best instead of heavy coats. I have never worn my heavy coat here. It may be warm in the day but cool in the evening. Good walking shoes/sandals. Go to weather.com and see the average temperatures for when you will be here to help you gauge. You can always buy a Villages sweatshirt at the Mercantile.

I guess it also depends on how well stocked your rental is. Having been through a lot of rentals in different places, I now travel with my own chef's knives as I do a lot of cooking, and dull knives are dangerous. So if there is some particular hobby you have, you might want to bring all your own accessories.

Good point someone made about bringing your knives. You could also bring your favorite spices if you plan to cook alot especially if you are staying a month or more. You could store them in little snack size baggies instead of having to bring the entire thing. I wouldn't be able to cook without my seasoned salt, paprika, garlic powder, chili powder, italian seasoning, cumin.

I have two lifetimes worth of spices thanks to being a snowbird with two homes for four years..

Or you could just buy Allspice.
I buy Everything Bagels now. When I have company I tell them to just pick off what they don't like.

The rental should provide pretty much everything you should need if you plan on entertaining a lot they may only have enough for 6 to 8. Other than that just bring your personal stuff. The owner should send you a complete list of what's in the house prior to you getting there so you can plan ahead.

Yike, I just responded to this and who know where it posted!! I sure don't see it!

When we travel by car, I always take my Vitamix blender for my morning shakes. I Like a blender that does a great job with ice and frozen fruit! And, most of the blenders in rentals aren't that great!

The last villa we rented was wonderful but it didn't have measuring spoons!

(In full disclosure, I own a home in The Villages that is in a long-term rental program. So, Mom and I have to rent when we visit TV!)
