Default renting & staying with a single owner

Can anyone help with this......

I will be paying rent to share a home with an elderly lady who is a single owner of the place.

What does she need to do to get me a resident card? Thanks!

Greek,

If you will be making her home your permanent residence, you will take several forms of residential proof to the Villages ID office and they will issue you a resident ID (driver's license, car registration, voter registration, any other bills coming to that address, etc). She doesn't really have to do anything but it might be helpful if she accompanied you to the ID office.

If you don't plan to officially make this your address, then the owner lady can get you a guest ID, renewing it every 30 days.

Welcome to The Villages.

Villages 07,

I'm still not quite clear on this. Are you saying that a single owner only gets one resident card EVEN IF they took in a renter? The renter would not get the same privileges that they would if they rented from someone who turned over their two resident cards?

Greek,

A resident ID can be issued to (1) anyone on the deed to the house, regardless of where their primary residence might be or (2) anyone whose primary residence is a Villages address, regardless of whether they rent or own the property.

In the case of (usually) longer term rentals, the resident owner can "turn in" his/her resident ID(s) and for a $50 fee have their resident privileges transferred to their renters.

Your situation is still not clear... will you become a permanent FL resident at this home? If so, it's an easy process to get a resident ID for no fee.

There is no such thing as an automatic allowance of 2 IDs per house; basically, resident IDs are issued to those who own the home or those who live there permanently. (the one aberration being the situation where an owner relinquishes his/her ID(s) for renters.

If this is still unclear, I suggest you or the owner call the Villages customer service center and explain your situation. They should be able to explain all your options.
