Does anyone know how to deal with a neighbour with an extremely noisy pool pump? We can not even sit in our lanai and it is even heard inside our home.

what did your neighbor say when you talked to him about it?

I will bet if it is that noisy, it will soon be toast and need to be replaced, as either the impeller or bearing (or both) are failing.

Could be your neighbor might be hard of hearing. Why don't you just talk with him and tell him you think something might be wrong with his pump.

We talked to the neighbour who does not find it that loud and yes he is hard of hearing. The pool is brand new, pump is not going to break down anytime soon. We are not the only ones who are having issues with it.

If it's new, sounds like a variable speed pump that has noisy motor. there is a warranty period and he should call the installer before there are serious problems...seized motor

He has a solar heating system and it has to push the water onto his roof over to the solar panels. I was hoping for a noise covenant. This pump runs 14 hours a day.

Can't hurt to call Community Standards and ask. Call from your lanai when the pump is running so they can hear the issue. You have my sympathies.

Oh great. We are getting a pool and I can't hear very well.
The G's are about to offend. I very much don't like to offend. Unless I'm mad and you're wrong.

If the water is to low it will suck in air and be much louder then normal.

It shouldn't be making that much noise. If it's new, it may be under warranty and the owner could have it checked to see if it is operating properly. I'm not familiar with solar, but a properly working regular pool pump should not be an issue due to noise.

If there is a separate waterfall pump it could be noisy. Also a heat pump can be loud. Either way, 8 hours is long enough for a filter pump to do its job.

we had the same problem -- when we moved into our new home our neighbor's pool pump was extremely loud and our neighbors were only down a few months a year. We couldn't sit outside because of the noise. After talking with a lot of the neighbors, salesman, warranty, etc., I noticed that T&D was their pool service company. I called them and asked them about the noise at that address. They confirmed that they were getting a new pump. that was 15 months ago and things are good. Try the pool service company -

Why was the pump put on your side of the house? I don' t understand why the pump wouldn't be put somewhere where it doesn't disturb the neighbors.

I don't understand. The pump has to be somewhere, on one side or the other or at the back. Neighbors are all around. There must be something amiss. There are probably thousands of pools here and never read about this issue on TOTV before and usually this is where complaints land.
