Smile Quick Points

1. I think we should feel blessed that with over 80,000 residents we only have a couple of break ins, etc. We live in a community where a woman can take a walk at midnight and feel safe. Of course with over 80,000 people you can expect a couple of bad things and in these cases none were personal attacks on someone nor house breakins.. We are truly lucky.
2. Regarding what really happened at the restaurant. I was there early on
Monday morning and the Owner's were just looking around. THe window was broken where they entered and the Owner's were waiting for someone to put some plyboard up. They said the "burglar's" got the money from the cash register and from the safe. They were still looking to see if anything else was taken. They said it would be a few days before they could reopen. The police were looking at potential camera's at other stores, (e.g. Publix's , etc).
I am not naive and believe it would be a huge overstatement that these types of violation's in anyway reflect on the safety and peaceful living in The Villages.

Not to be rude, just an educational oportunity, these crimes are not classified as burglaries or robberies (in my state anyway, could be different down here). In my twenty plus years of law enforcement/criminal prosecutions burglary referes to breaking into a residence, if a business is broken into it is charged as a B & E (breaking and entering) with different code sections and penalties for each. Burglary is a more serious felony because of the potential for the criminal interacting with the victim etc.
I don't think two breakins warrant a suggestion of prevalent crime in TV.

OK it was burglarized..I hope that closes the concerns over that issue..
Some people just have to be RIGHT! Yes, the concept was definitely understood. Now give the teacher and apple!

That's usually the advertising and marketing theme for most retirement communities.

There are other threads to discuss the merits of the Daily Sun.

This thread is about a burglary.....

Please try to stay on topic.

Mr/Ms moderator,
I did a search of the forums and found 17 pages of threads where the Daily Sun was mentioned out of context.I did not find one where that(The Sun) was the main topic but I did give up after 5....Within those threads there were many many pages of differing opinions and subject matter...Not once where I could find was the question of off topic mentioned by the moderator..Is this new?? thanks for your service...

I am not the moderator but I don't understand what you mean by "mentioned out of context". The Daily Sun is mentioned all of the time. Once someone says "I read it in the Daily Sun", 50% start bashing the Daily Sun and the other 50% praise the Daily Sun. It is no different that a praise or complaint about a restaurant.

Personally I think that the Daily Sun is MUCH MUCH better than it was in 2001 when I moved here. It still does not carry much of the bad news in the areas. That is why I get the Orlando Sentinel. (This is where the Orlando Sentinel lovers/haters get to chime in.)

I disagree. Robbery by definition is a violent crime, burglary isn’t. And since the title of this thread (Robbery) implied a violent crime in TV when apparently, it was appropriate for PJOHNS2654 to suggest the correction.

Default topic??

My point was the moderator chose this post to bring out the fact I was off topic my mentioning the Sun..I agree with you there is a myriad of posts all over the place regarding the sun, Yet my post was the one called out...I don't understand the logic...Maybe it was the comment "fair and balanced"...a

The sun is a good feel good paper with a lot of info regarding The Villages..Is it slanted? Absolutely..It is what it is and I like it too..

I am thinking just maybe you have a case of obvious deficit disorder. Your referring to The Sun as The Sun P**** that for more than one reason is false and unacceptable to many for different reasons.

I would like to thank you for being here because Mother AKA Moderator now has you to keep him/her busy.
