Default Rude driver at Lynnhaven Postal Center.

Yesterday I was getting ready to put Beau in his car seat. The parking spot to the right of me was empty and an impatient obnoxious woman drove her car into the spot while I was still in it fixing Beau's car seat. There were many other open spots in the parking lot but this woman just keeps on coming while I fiddle with the car seat. If looks could kill...she would have been a goner. But, I did not doing anything more than give her a good stare down which I hope she felt from me and the woman in the car on the other side of the parking spot she forced her way into while scaring the poop out of me. Just figuratively.

I was seriously thinking if showing her much impression of a sailor just into port but changed my mind due to keeping my blood pressure down.

I have been seeing so much more selfish behavior here in the Villages of late.

Bought here in April. Was so impressed on how friendly the people were. Suddenly over the past several weeks I have seen so many rude drivers both in cars and carts. Yelling, honking horns, rude gestures, ... Maybe we need to rethink Florida's Friendlest Hometown!

This time of year, the population swells from 75,000 to 115,000. There are "snowbirds", here for the winter both owners and renters. There are weekly renters. There are guests of owners. Some of these people come from areas with a faster pace of life and need to "decompress" Others will never change their attitudes. Hang in there, things will improve by April.

C'mon, Tal. You are supposed to know that she ALWAYS parks in the SAME spot EVERY time she comes to the postal station. <wink> <wink>

I'm always surprised when there are so many choices people choose the spot right beside you whether in a restaurant, parking lot or whatever. The few steps closer to her box perhaps but certainly not more important than a neighbor, especially one struggling with a pet. At this point I tend to come up with excuses for why she might have acted this way but decided not to do so.

In cases like this, I try not to lose my cool and politely ignore the situation but if she glared too long I would have to point out the obvious. "Have you had such a bad day you couldn't take any other space than the one where you could glare at me and pretend it is my fault for holding YOU up!"

The renters are paying a thousand bucks a week to stay here. That entitles them to priority parking as well as unlimited speed limits, express supermarket checkout, multi modal HOV lanes, stress free (slow) executive golf, and intregral roundabout bypass lanes.

People seem to get cranky when it gets cold ! She must have felt warmth coming from you! And oh yeah, that's probably "her space".

For newbies, The Villages is not perfect but friendlier than most places you have ever been. Yes, people who were nasty as kids may still be nasty as elderly people if they never grew up and as you can see, we still let them irritate us now and then. The solution is catching people being friendly and doing good....but then in The Villages, this forum would be too overloaded. Yet....we would feel good, even better every day.

I simply say that some renters have the "cruise ship mentality."

You forgot nasty looks and "in your face" comments, not to mention a sprinkling of four letter words and physical confrontations in the squares

That only applies to the New Yorkers

I'm still having trouble with "putting beau in his car seat". Is beau your nephew or a pet? And why wouldn't you just pull your door in a little to make room for that person instead of insisting on occupying two parking spaces? I have closed my door and delayed getting into my car when in a similar situation. It makes for a much better interaction and is appreciated by the person in the other vehicle.

I was not close to the Lynnhaven Postal Center but did notice that all the really close parking spaces just in front of this building were occupied.

I have not seen this woman before so maybe she is a seasonal visitor.

I was picking my dog Beau to put into the car seat when this woman stopped to turn into the parking lot and then just started coming and coming into the spot. She just insisted she would park there by forcing me to move so she could get into the spot. There were dozens of spots available in other parts of the parking lot and this woman had no trouble walking. There were also numerous spots to the left of my car but these were a few feet farther than the one to the right of my vehicle.
