This issue has been discussed time and time again. There are those that think that people should see to it that seats aren't saved at the squares. This takes both time and money and the money would come from the entertainment department who would then charge the merchants at the square.

I think, and have always thought, that the Morse Family who ultimately laid down most of these rules must think that a group of older adults need not be tended or directed like children. I don't see anything heavy handed about their dealings with the residents at all. I think that is very wise. For one, there isn't a law that says no seat saving so no Law Enforcement Officer could enforce it. Again it boils down to what most of us were raised by, The Golden Rule. It appears that the sports pools were built with thought to exercise and family and neighborhood pools were built for wading and swimming and playing. If I were the people in charge, I don't think it would be wise to wade in (I'm sorry) to this potential public relations MESS. I can see it now. CDD has a group of old women arrested for exercising in pool.

Of course there is more to it than this...there always is. There is a bunch of mean girls somewhere who are gonna show us.

I have encountered many librarians on power trips since 1988 or so. I suppose every profession has people who need to take control of things.

I don't use the neighborhood pool. I don't care whether people are in there doing "frowned on" organized exercise. I have never given it any thought until this matter was raised here.....

BUT, early this morning I went to Publix and on the way back stopped for mail and lo and behold my little neighborhood pool parking lot was packed to the gills with cars and golf carts ................... so, I have to assume, that my little neighborhood pool is being used for illicit exercise classes .............. whadayaknow!

No, I did not have the nerve to look inside to see what was going on ........................ The plot thickens.

For the sake of simplicity, let's break down the population of The Villages into three groups.

1) People who have always followed the rules, and will continue to do so.

2) People who have never followed the rules, and won't start now.

3) People who have always followed the rules, and don't want to any more, now that they are seniors.

So, by simple math, the first group is outnumbered by two to one.

Why? Can't get the ball back? Like most sports you have to put in the practice time to be somewhat competitive. IMO tennis at high level harder than golf. You have to get to the ball, then you have to get it over the net away from your opponent multiple times to even win point. Golf like billiards you have all the time to set up for the shot. Concentrate is the same. tennis requires higher level of fitness to play at high level.

Wow. Agree. Plus, having played team tennis for 20+ years, I have to opine that it is one of the most injury-prone sports around. And the most fun.

Tennis players who are still playing at "our age" are in very good shape for sure.

I have met a lot of people here in my 6 years in The Villages.

I find that they are similar to people...in everywhere else I have lived.

Some are honest, good, decent people who truly care about others.

Some not as much.

And a whole lot...that are in-between.

I would have to say tennis, but in the same amount of time there is a much higher opportunity to make mistakes in tennis or pickleball since you're hitting many more shots. Sometimes we skip the mild cussing and go straight to the really bad words.

Also, I think it matters how much you care about your performance in a particular sport. I cared/care a lot about my tennis/pickleball performance. Golf I just play for fun & socialization. So I don't swear as much.
