Russ,

I echo the sediments of the other posters. But I also want to say that those that like to make things personal will be the only ones happy by your decision as well as being the "winners" by your decision. You and the rest of us will be the ones that will suffer by the loss and nearly all of us will be the ones that are saddened by that decision. Please reconsider and turn the tables on them. You make TOTV a better place to visit! Why, I might even post a funny graphic in your honor if you stay!

Russ says he's leaving because things are getting to personal and now some have taken to "getting personal" on this thread. Kind of funny and ironic, I'd say. Life is funny.

I'm assuming that I have been accused of getting personal with Russ. Nowhere have I done that. Just because I didn't beg him to stay doesn't mean I deserve to be ganged up on.

I said Russ is a big boy and can do what he wants, is that personal?

I said I don't know Russ so I don't care if he stays or goes, is that personal?

I said this site will go on with or without him, is that personal?

I think a few of you should re-read my posts then tell me where I have been personal.

Time for this thread to close too.

Boy oh boy, if you're not right Richie, then the Pope's not Catholic! I guess some of us never learn, no matter how old we get!

Not really, but you must admit "I don't care if he stays or goes" can come across the printed screen as harsh. Besides what good does it do to share that?

Hi Russ, I'd say just back off and then come here on your terms and just use it for yourself. Many here obviously appreciate you. I don't ever visit political and I'm careful about getting too personal. Best wishes either way.

Maybe you didn't follow the thread enough?

This was my original post.

Then BS replied with this.

Lets see, is this post in support of Russ or glad to see ya go Russ?

And I responded with this.

BS, it's that type of unfriendly comment you just made that started all of this. Personally I do not know Russ so I don't care if he stays or goes. I do however think that his decision to leave is unwarranted. Russ is a big boy and can do what he wants. Life goes on.

My new comment:

I don't think I was out of line in the context I said it in but I can certainly see how some people could read into it what makes them feel better and I don't mean you gbama.

Sorry to see it come to this, Russ, but I fully understand your decision.

In my 4.5 yrs on this forum, I've observed several cycles of nasty and contentious behavior. People come, people go. Life goes on. TOTV is a great source of information and advice and a place to exchange opinions but I've seen people write nasty things here that I have never heard in person. The anonymity of the keyboard, I suppose. Just look at the posting history of some members and all you see are negative and critical thoughts. Most folks are upbeat or more balanced but it only takes a few to sour the mood.

I still get a kick out of reading uplifting stories of people who have discovered The Villages, sold houses, found their little piece of paradise here, and eagerly embrace a new and exciting chapter in their lives. Keep your eyes on the prize.

So, Russ, good luck to you and your wife on selling and relocating and we'll see you in real life on the pickleball courts, golf courses, and squares (and Facebook, of course).

I really appreciate the dozens of friends I've made through this site over the years. I will see you all for golf and pickleball real soon (coming down late August). And Linda and I will be there full time beginning in January hopefully. You know how to reach me (facebook, e-mail etc.)

No need to respond to this thread - I just wanted to say good bye so you didn't wonder why I'm not posting any longer.

Regards,
Russ
Russ,

Instead of leaving, you can consider doing what I just decided to do about posters that seem to have a habit of being disrespectful, whine or just outright annoying. I simply put them on my ignore list so I don't have to see their postings, except for when someone quotes them. I'm able to see that they posted, but not what they posted. I just put one person on that list and I''m sure of at least one more pretty soon. Now I can continue enjoying TOTV without the regular aggravation of their postings, nor be tempted to reacting when they might be goading me!
