Is it The Villages that is repairing the tunnel? The CDD? Or is it Sumter County who owns the road?

Who shall we be mad at or disappointed with?

I would expect all the tunnels in the Villages are the responsibility of the County they are in as they pass under public roads?

We have the option of using the car if we had a need for speed but most of the time we just took the extra time and drove the cart. Unless I am wrong most of the complainers are "retired" yet can't stop hurrying. They are the same ones that push by you in the market, speed by you in a car on the road, blow their horns, etc. I think it is healthy to slow them down by making the ride longer and slower. By helping them to adjust to retirement. Of course allowing an additional 20 minutes for appointments, tee times is not a life and death problem but will extend life by slowing the "hurry habit" down a bit. A couple of weeks ago some "hurry upper" gave me a bad hand single because I didn't back out of a space faster. Now that person must really be fun to live with. The best advise for these unfortunate residents is to "SLOW DOWN, ENJOY LIFE AND BE RESPECTABLE TO YOUR NEIGHBORS. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF NOT HAVING A SCHEDULE. REMEMBER "SLOW" IS ALSO A FOUR LETTER WORD.

I 100% agree. The tunnel repairs are really no different than "in the real world" a bridge or road being repaired. There will be some temporary inconvenience, but I would rather there be preventive maintenance than a catastrophic failure.

As to the "rush" by people, a couple years ago I asked a relative who has lived here since 2002 as to why people who are retired are in such a rush. I pointed out that being retired, everyone should have plenty of time to get to where they needed to be (emergencies aside). He pointed out that perhaps the people in a rush don't have that much time left (he said to think about it....) and are trying to fit everything in before their time comes. I know he was being somewhat facetious, so that leaves me with what is the rush? I worked in a position where I had meetings with people around the world (I hated facilitating a meeting at 10 PM so that my colleagues in Shanghai had the opportunity to have a normal workday meeting instead of always meeting on our time. Everything had to be done "right now" and I always felt that I was "fighting fires". I retired from that life, so I am probably the one who is at you as you zoom by me in your while I am enjoying a nice ride seeing the beauty of the Villages and listening to my music.

Good questions Gracie. I believe I understand the genesis of your questions, so I will presume and say "who" is NOT THE DEVELOPERS when it comes to the legality of changing the rules of the public roadway.

Sumter County would be the approving authority as stated in a previous post.

Time or the use thereof means different things to different people. Why the rush? Well I retired, I didn't die The importance of time management for me hasn't changed only my tasks, responsibilities, activities, reasons have.

As to the tunnel being repaired. glad to see they are working on them now rather than in prime season

Personal Bet Regards:

Maybe they are adding a motorcycle lane. A couple of weeks ago I saw some genius leaving Saddlebrook through the tunnel on a motorcycle !

Was this the CR466 or the Buena Vista tunnel? It would be hard getting a motorcycle into the BV tunnel from the East. He would have going incredibly slow to make that turn.
