My husband thinks he remembers getting scrapple at the Fruitland Park Cafe on 441 on west side, north of 466A We're scrapple lovers too from PA.
My mistake, not there .........

Default Scarp

Get mine at Publixs. You just need to cut the slices a little thicker than normal and it won't crumble. I have had several clerks ask what it was. I tell them they don't know what they are missing.

Default Never tried it before...

Sounds like a spicy corn bread..must be tasty as so many like it (or is an aquired taste?)

Scrapple, also known by the Pennsylvania Dutch name pon haus, is traditionally a mush of pork scraps and trimmings combined with cornmeal and wheat flour, often buckwheat flour, and spices.

I find it at the Publix on 466 (Southern Trace Plaza) in the low, open freezer cases near the left, rear of the store. I'll bet it's in the same place in the Publix on 466A (Colony Plaza).

love scrapple ~ always would slice it and freeze it without problem. Good old fashioned PA scrapple must be different then other places. As a previous poster said, perfect with KING syrup!!! YUMMMMMM : )

Default freeze scapple

Well I will have to try slicing the scrapple before I freeze it. As I said I tried freezing it before when I bought a large block of it but it became grainy and had a terrible texture after I thawed it out. I know some people put syrup on their scrapple (yuck!) but I only use the correct condiment...ketchup! LOL

Default scrap

Difficult to slice before freezing because it comes frozen - hard as rock. I defrost it, slice it a little thicker than I would like - but not too thick. Dip in flour. Fry it all up and then refrigerate what we don't eat at the first sitting.

Ketchup for me.

My husband is very glad we will be able to find scrapple in TV. Never knew it could be frozen, but it's worth trying! We use catsup, too.
