All this public behavior started in the 70’s when “they” started closing down the insane asylums across the country.

In Honolulu there are meth addicts etc who cause similar scenes in stores and they are carefully removed by security physically. I was wondering what one does during the pandemic. It must be hard to be in enforcement these days.

I've heard that they can usually lure them out the door with the promise of free TP being given out in the parking lot.... but I haven't seen it done yet

We lived in a town that was one of the safest in America, according to many sources. A beautiful new grocery store was opened. A former employee came back to the store with his sword and cut off the head of a manager, while the store was open. Thank God I wasn’t there at the time, but this was definitely worse than 😱 screaming.

If you use a credit card you can get “cash back”. Plus you don’t have to touch the thousands of germs on your money. And neither does the cashier.

If a person is mental, pepper spray will not even work. Sad but true. My friend is a police officer who told me not to depend on my pepper spray to ward off some whacko while out walking

I had just entered the Colony Publix when this incident occurred. Customer was standing at the Service/Lottery counter screaming "It's my GD money!", and similar things. I surmise that he was either upset because he couldn't return something or he was yelling at his wife because he wanted to buy a lottery ticket.

We need to keep in mind that there are some of us here who unfortunately suffer from dementia issues. Publix staff responded immediately and calmed him down.

Agree. Also, after the third bad Instacart experience where ridiculous items were substituted without their asking me, and the upcharge on the cost of each item, I said no thanks, I'll do my own shopping.

I don't use instacart so don't know if they have this option, but Walmart curbside delivery allows you to check a box for no substitutions. So I get exactly what I order unless item is out of stock.

EdFNJ, my wife shops with a list. I have to sneak cookies and other treats into the cart. That is what I meant by "magically appeared" at checkout. As to your $16.87ear of corn, I'm guessing it was REALLY good.

Nerves are on edge. How much worse can this get?

Check below for the Aloha1 quoted post which clears stuff up quite a bit. On the topic of Publix, my father has had some falls in the Southern Trace Shopping Center Publix and the Publix staff have always been very attentive to his needs. Hats off to them and they are handling things extremely well during this on-going medical emergency of the Corona Virus.
