When I first moved here, I frequently saw staff picking up cushions, ribbons, tape, etc. and tossing them into cardboard boxes. Owners were welcome to find their items or not. Why the policy was changed to do nothing, I have no idea but it was. It seems as if seat saving became a huge issue after that. In less than a year, there have been at least three known instances of violence because of seat saving. I sincerely hope the Rec Department does something before a true tragedy occurs.

:) Just did a quick search because I knew 2BNTV wrote to Barb Vesco last year. Here is a link to her reply. (She is now retired and someone else is running The Entertainment Dept.)

Because, isn't this "America's Friendliest Hometown? That guy has some serious issues; what really saddens me is that NO MAN came to the aid of this lady. What has happened to chivalry?

I may be wrong, but I thought the Developer sold all of the Entertainment Division to someone else and has no hand in that at all now. I also thought that the Squares were sold by the Developer to the CDD. If those assumptions are so, then the Developer (Morse) has no "dog in the fight" if you will. Please correct me if I am wrong about this.

I think law enforcement can enforce disorderly conduct, and willfully violating posted rules prohibiting seat saving might fall into that definition. The county has people who are paid to stand up to the bullies. Certainly you and I have no authority to do so. Probably time for the Entertainment Division to hire some private security, or work with the Sheriff to have adequate security in the Squares.

Actually Celebrity Cruises have "pool butlers" who remove items after 20 minutes.

Isn't it sad this sense of entitlement seems to be so rampant!

Walter, you are confusing laws and rules.
It's a law that you can't exceed the speed limit on public roads.
It's a Villages rule that you can't save chairs at Town Squares.

The victim should get a restraining order to keep him several hundred feet away. Then call the police whenever he shows at the square chilout

Straight to the point in ( 3 ) sentences perfectly said.

Can you think for a moment what would happen if this guy touched your neighbor, sister, daughter or wife? It wouldn't be good. Was drinking involved? The old saying....I didn't get in trouble every time I drank but every time I got in trouble I had been drinking! Just a bad situation.

Regarding no one coming to her defense - there was a piece in the paper either yesterday or the day before about an 80-year-old who was viciously attacked on a bus in Washington state. She was saved by the FEMALE bus driver while the other passengers cowered at the back of the bus taking photos with their cell phones!

What is happening to our world?

cquick 06-04-2016 08:29 AM

I agree with you, nothing will change. I don't go to Spanish Springs.....let the seat savers and bullies go there.

cquick 06-04-2016 08:32 AM

our son is in a wheelchair, but if he could walk and still needed to sit, I would be prepared and bring a chair for him.

I remember the insensitive and hurtful thing you posted on here some time ago directed at your family that happened at the square. You three are terrific folks and strangers who say and do bad things and selfish things to nice people make me want to bite. That goes from seat saving to stupid and unfeeling remarks.

We G's feel so lucky to know you.

DonH57 06-04-2016 09:46 AM

Should just be a simple seat rule. One a**, one chair.
