Riding my bike I saw a guy making tight circles on his golf cart in front of a postal kiosk. He stopped so I thought it was OK to pass. Without looking he started another loop and almost hit me.

I yelled “WATCH OUT.” Looking back I said “be more careful around people.” The guy replied FU, the long version. That's all I said, and I made no other reply.

I continued on my journey to have the guy follow me for about two miles (roughly 9 minutes). Intimidating me? In Florida, that’s “Road Rage.”

Finally he passed, yelling something out the side of his golf cart (incomprehensible over the roar of his englne), but then after his one-finger salute out the back, I knew it was not an apology. Then noticed he was wearing headphones (another FL illegal).

This kind of behavior is way too common in The Villages, but this was the worst yet. Impatient golfers driving like maniacs way over the 20mph speed limit going to and from courses. Wreckless drunks seeing how close they can come to cyclists and walkers after happy hour at the clubs and music venues. Funny? not
(another FL law: minimum 3-feet of clearance between vehicle and cyclists and pedestrials - in most states it is 5 feet)

I feel, in the least, there should be identification on golf carts. Being anonymous brings out the worst in people with issues.

Be careful. I posted about a neighbor who had brain surgery a short time ago. It was thought he would never be able to walk or talk again. After rehab he came home and started to walk and even talk a bit. So he’s been home, say a month and today I watched him take the golf cart, ran over stuff as he backed out and when a walker pointed it out to him, he waved, gave a friendly smile and drove out to a busy-ish street! I said a prayer for him. He is out there, please watch yourself.

What does "soinds" mean and why would you assume this has anything to do with a "snowbird" or relative?

Oh wait. You must be one of those folks who would be happy to pay double for your Amenity Fees and Taxes, as soon as you can figure out a way to displace all the part-time residents.

Id be happy paying FIVE times the taxes and amenity fees to get rid of seasonal renters, airbnb renters, and snowbirds. They are not true villagers..just tourists using up our facilities.

I have been saying this to myself since getting on message boards around 2002. Also applies to real life. I had some schmuck give me a finger when I was behind him at a Villages' gate yesterday. Maybe he is upset with NOTHING. And have had others give me a thumbed nose or chin flick the last few months. And much worse on other places online.

Do you have identification on your bicycle? If not, why?

An ID on a golf cart would be useless. The police will not issue a traffic ticket as they didn't see the infraction. As it was explained to me, you would have to go to the district court and file a complaint. Then you would have to testify in court, but with no video or other witness testimony it would be a case of he said, you said. Highly doubtful that the court would take any action.

So you are saying that my wife and I are not true Villagers even though we have owned a home there for 7 1/2 years, never once rented out our home, meticulously maintain our home, pay all relevant fees on a monthly basis, help out our neighbors frequently with several handyman tasks, etc…, simply because we are not there full time. We are not necessarily snowbirds since we come down to our Villages home throughout the year as our schedules allow, but the winter months are always our longest stay.

Can you provide us with your address so we can take a dump on your home as we fly over while migrating north.
