Some legislators must have read the stats on what causes accidents?
Since moving to Florida I always wondered why people would park themselves in the left lanes of the Florida TPK, I75 etc. going at or below the speed limit oblivious to the long line behind them or everyone trying to dangerously pass them in the right lane. They do not pass on the left and move over to the right. Having driven most of my life on the NJ TPK, RT 287, Garden State Pkwy, Belt Pkwy, etc. during business work days we would zip by at 75 or 80 on the left and move to the right to let others go by - it was understood. OK I feel better now for sharing.

I drove those Jersey roads for many years, too. Unfortunately, my recollections of the experience were less glowing. There was no shortage of very bad drivers in the Garden State.

Default Street Legal Limit 25mph ?

From reading above it seems that street legal carts are limited to 25 mph. Is that correct?

If so, I do not see the point of paying extra for that.

Yes, maximum speed limit is supposed to be 25 mph. They can and are frequently faster than that.

The advantages to owning one now are that you can avoid going out of your way to get to a tunnel and you can legally cross 441 and 466. When they first were made legal, there was a nice tax break for purchasing one. However, registration and insurance have caused many to change their LSVs to regular carts.

Street legal carts (LSV's) are limited to a top speed of 25 mph. They can travel on roads that have a speed limit of 35 mph or less. They cannot travel on 441, 466 or 466A which have a 45 mph speed limit.

Please correct me if I have missed any Villages roads that are posted above 35 mph.
