Default Sharing yard work

How common is it in TV for two or three neighbors to make arrangements for joint ownership of yard equipment such as a riding mower and gas edger to collectively do their own yard maintenance, maybe exchanging responsibilities from month to month, or one ownes the equipment and one does the work? Do any of these arrangements work? You would need compatible neighbors, of course and an agreement of what becomes of the equipment should one decide to opt out.

Interesting concept, but I rather suspect that most of your neighbors don't do yard work anymore! On my street (16 homes), there's only one who does his own; everyone else uses some outside service. In fact, most of us (not all, though) have the same mower guy. Makes it easier for him and each of us has to bear the noise associated with mowing, whacking, blowing, etc., only once a week, all on the same day! That's very nice!

Is yours a street of Ranch, Designer, or Premier homes? I would guess that a greater proportion of "Ranch" home owners do their own yardwork than Designer or Premier owners, just because they may need to be, or choose to be, more frugal. Do you think this is the case?

At $40/month I'm not even considering doing it myself.

Is $40 per month the average going rate for an average size (7,000 to 8,000 sq. ft.) lot?

What does that include: Mowing, edging only? What else: trimming bushes and trees as needed? Fertiizing/weed and feed, adding mulch, chinch bug/army worm treatment? (labor plus materials?)

Golfnut Who does your yard? I was paying PTL services $45. I have considered doing mine myself. It only takes me about 15 minutes. One bag of fertilizer gets it too.
Thanks Bama

Vast majority have their yards done in all types of neighborhoods.......Its $45.00 a mo. year round for mow, trim, edge & blow...... One of the fun things in TV is to watch all the yards being done and sit in a folding chair in your driveway and pretend to supervise.. Life is great ..... 8) ;D
A well trimmed Fumar
