We'll be closing on our new home in St. Charles on March 4. We'll be snowbirds for awhile so we won't be moving a great number of items from our New York home.
Does anyone know if we can ship some items to a location where they can be held until we arrive. I'm talking about boxes of household items, towels, sheets, clothing etc, not furniture or appliances.

Village Pack 'n Ship at Colony Plaza (closest shipping location to village of St. Charles) allows people to rent mail boxes. They have a very large room to the rear of their store and I know people who rent mail boxes are able to receive packages of all sizes at their business. It wouldn't hurt to give them a call and see they could accomodate your needs.

bluedog..... the easiest solution is to entrust a neighbor with a key and have them stash the boxes inside your house when they are delivered. I realize you are new and may not know anyone yet. If you are going to be a snowbird/seasonal resident, you may want to consider a home watch service, some of whom could perform this service as well as keep an eye on your home when you're not here. Bill and Mary Edwards, members of TOTV and advertisers on this site, perform a wide range of services.

The Pack n Ship place tends to be expensive for their services, at least those I've priced or utilized.

Thanks folks. I've already communicated with Mary Edwards and will probably use her home watch service once we get settled in. Right now our home site is just a vacant lot, or at least it was when I last saw it a couple of weeks ago. After the closing things should be a little easier in this regard.
