Siding installation issues have been pretty much resolved. Shingles is on the manufacturer, not TV. Exploring for sinkholes in Florida is kind of like looking for a needle in a haystack -- you'll find it when it pricks but rarely before. Intersections seem fine to me. There are a couple of spots where golf carts were not really considered but at least one of these has been resolved (Colony). How much bigger do you want the traffic circles -- Roman size, like the one around the Arc de Triomphe? They're fine as is. Folks just need to learn how to navigate them. As to the soil erosion, water and soil, whether dirt, sand or clay, really don't mix. 'Twas bound to occur and I'm sure will be rectified quickly.

For a community this size and one that has expanded this rapidly, the problems have been pretty minor and that's pretty amazing. I'm not a fan of the developer but I do believe in giving credit where credit is due.

Now, let's talk about the IRS issue, the fact that people had to sue to get rec centers, etc. renovated, the building of the wall. Those show a lack of caring for the residents and are, to me, a much bigger issue. Don't want the Morse family to be my parents and take care of everything. Do want them to treat us with respect, fairly and ethically.

Please provide specific information about this problem. I assume you're talking about the bridge at 466 and Morse, please tell me if otherwise.

Asst dir of operations, Sumter County, mr. Jackson, said today that he discussed this with the county administrator, Mr. Arnold, and based on the official review which happens every two years for bridges, there is no problem with the safety or structure of the bridge.

The county would fix any problem if there were one to the bridge and the land underneath it. Outside of the county right-of-way, the problem would belong to the villages. Mr. Arnold has recently been in touch with agents, for want of a better word, in the villages regarding the rumor that the bridge has problems or might be unsafe.

Yes, the shoreline that is eroding is adjacent to the Morse Blvd bridge at CR466 leading into Lake Sumter Landing. There is no problem with the bridge, which the county maintains. The problem is with the land adjacent to the bridge, which is owned by the District.

For more info, google Morse Blvd, shoreline eroding on land under bridge.

Not a rumor.

Default Isn't This "Old News"?

Some major work was done under the northeast end of the bridge about a year ago, lots of new concrete and lots and lots of loads of sand used to re-build the bridge supports.

Just to be clear... It is not a rumor that the shoreline is eroding, but apparently not "under the bridge"....
Under bridge implies danger and would be sumter's issue to deal with. By the way, call sumter county officials if you want a thorough answer and a bottom line and a real person to talk to.

Many calls, always responsive. No layers of bureaucracy, you get to talk to somebody who is really the go to person.

A recent study shows that the "island" that connects the two sections of the bridge has been eroding for some time. Where is this "island" in relation to the major work that was done a year ago?

If you would like an authoritative answer, you might want to call Mr. Jackson at the Sumter County roads and bridges department. Otherwise I could give you my opinion and I have no idea!
