I don't recall the people of Cleveland having a lot of nice things to say about LeBron when he left.
Do I recall the phrase, "Don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out."?

From the satirical Borowitz Report:
"CLEVELAND (The Borowitz Report) — In an emotional speech to the people of Cleveland on Friday, N.B.A. superstar LeBron James congratulated them on “realizing the incredible dream of having me back.” Appearing as a fifty-foot hologram projected on the side of Quicken Loans Arena, James seemed on the verge of tears several times as he praised the city for achieving what he called “a goal no words can describe.” “The city of Cleveland has taken some hard knocks over the years,” James said. “But here you are today, receiving the most magnificent prize the world has to offer.” Choking up, James added, “I’m so happy for you.” In contrast with his first public appearance in Miami four years ago, James did not promise Cleveland a series of N.B.A. titles. “Today’s not about basketball,” he said. “Today is about one man giving meaning and purpose to the lives of millions.” Although James signed a massively lucrative contract to return to the Cavaliers, he told the people of Cleveland that they had gained something “far more precious” than money. “You have been given the greatest gift of all,” he said. “The gift of me.”

I hope you realize that the article I posted from the Borowitz Report was satire.

LBJ had a big reason not to go back to Cleveland after the owner had blasted him in a letter but nothing stands in the way of money. Dan Gilbert called him a quitter, coward and a traitor for leaving Cleveland. The maximum money talks, and BS walks. It will intriguing to see how they interface with one another as no apologies have been given.
The city of Cleveland lost over 1 billion dollars in revenue, when he left for Miami. He is the best player on the planet and entitled to a big ego but I wouldn't have so presumptuous to say. "you have given the gift of me". I think Cleveland has a shot at winning a championship, as they will try to do everything in their power to provide additional players, as LBJ can't do it all by himself. The whole landscape of the NBA has shifted with Lebron going to Cleveland. Wade stays in Miami, Bosh to Houston and Melo stays with the Knicks. If LBJ had signed with Chicago, he would have a good shot at winning a championship. I think Derrick Rose was not happy, if LBJ came to Chicago. Interesting to watch, going forward.

Having the RNC in your state almost guarantees losing that state. Not since 1992, when Pappy Bush won Texas, has a candidate won the state that held the convention. And we all know how that turned out.

More power to them if they can bring a sports championship to Cleveland. You know they are really going to have to earn it now that James has been put on such a high pedestal by others and himself. |

I don't see that there's any reason to bash somebody's home town. As a matter of fact, have you even been to Cleveland recently? It's quite a different city than it was 30 years ago.
Even if it weren't, that's uncalled for.

I've been to Cleveland many times. I'm from Ohio. I believe everybody has the right to their opinion. Sorry if your opinion is different than mine.

It is. And I've lived in Ohio. Have friends there and visited recently. You are entitled to your opinion, but your comment was rude.

Well, you haven't been there lately! A great place and happy to say I have worked and supported Cleveland and Northeast Ohio for many years. Cfrance...I appreciate your support! Thanks! I must say that I am really disheartened how someone can post positive, wonderful news for their hometown and it gets shot down. I'm very excited about the numerous recent announcements and especially proud to be from there.

I lived in Cleveland for a year and it was a very good town. No night life in downtown Cleveland after 5 PM but there were a lot of spots to have fun, like the ironbound section. I also like the "Party In The Park" at 5 PM, in downtown Cleveland.
This is a bigger story than LBJ going back to his hometown, in that hundreds of people's revenues, will greatly increase. There will be tremendous business activity, no to mention the tremendous sale of jerseys. Like I said in a previous post, Cleveland lost 1 billion in revenue, when the king left. If I am the mayor of Cleveland, I would be doing cartwheels upon his return. Nuff said..... BTW - latest on sportscenter, is Chris Bosh will resign with the Heat.
