Default SLIDING WINDOWS TO ENCLOSE MY LANAI

Would like to have sliding glass or plexi-glass put on my lanai so that I can keep it clean yet open up and get a breeze early am or evening..Question...
I've heard glass will cause an increase in my property tax...but is it a significant increase..anybody have any $$ amounts on this./
Also what is the benefit of glass rather than plexi....???
Has anyone purchased a portable a/c unit for their lanai..Ive heard they can be noisey..Anyone found one they really like../
ANy suggestions on the contractors to build lanai..
Hey I know this a alot of questions..but I also know how helpful everyone is..Thanks everyone,,,Laura

Thanks to everyone who emailed me regarding enclosing my lanai..I really appreciate the input..Sounds like glass is the better option . I'm in NY but before my next trip down will make some calls and make appointments and get estimates.
I hope your enclosure turns out well. Let me know how it turns out...
Again really appreciate the info...Laura
