Is it permissible to sell rifles and/or pistols and other equipment on TOTV - either on a thread or classified ads

Good question!
As far as I know sales of guns between private parties are not banned in Florida. But it would be wise to check with the publication or online vehicle before posting about buying or selling a gun. Odds are they have their own rules about that. |

I’m pretty sure it’s not allowed. I would read the terms of the classified section, but I’ve seen gun ads deleted in the past. The Villages Straight Shooters Club has a classified section. Then there’s always gunbroker.com.

Are the guns you wish to sell from your collection? How would I get a list of what you have? I have a carry in NY, NJ, VA, and FL (with the reciprocity states). |

Since messing this up results in a federal felony charge, I suggest a talk with an expert at Shooters World, vs asking the internet.
We can’t even agree on 20 vs 25 MPH in a golf cart |

There are several options. Straight Shooters club runs a classified ad section.
They can help you with standard forms. You can sell a gun person to person without involving an FFL so long as the buyer has a valid carry permit. Fair price- look on TRUE GUN VALUE that too is free. You can also look on GUN BROKER. Another option is to sell it to shooters world. They do not buy long guns-rifles only pistols. You will not get a top dollar but it is little effort and you get cash (check)and you are done with it. |

When I moved down here I sold most of my guns to Nordick Pawn on 301 in Wildwood. They were more than fair and actually gave me more than I asked for on one of my shotguns. My feeling was that it was not worth the hassle to try selling them individually and possibly braking the law. I think I took 9 long guns there and left with close to $3,000.00 in my pocket. I'm sure they were worth more but he has to make money on them so I was more than happy.

Challenger,
Its in the TOTV "rules" that one cannot list firearms or ammo for sale in the classifieds. I previously looked into this as well. I've also sold on gunbroker, its massively fee heavy and subject to a lot of scammy buyers or people that wont pay after winning. GB customer support is non-existent. Other sites include 'armslist' and 'gunsamerica'. You may be shipping if using any of those three, which then adds some other complexity, as not all carriers are OK with shipping firearms. Selling locally to/thru an FFL holder often is far less hassle and about the same $ in the end. |

Thanks to all. The item that I want to sell is already on consignment at Nordic, but just checking for possible alternative. After the info provided here, I agree that the best option is to sell to Nordic or another shop in the area.

Go to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives guidance on the transfer of a firearm by private sellers.

Vanguard Gunworks up near Spanish Springs will facilitate firearms transfers between private parties to make it completely legal and documented. They even complete a background check on the buyer for everyone's peace of mind..

You can even have a garage sale and sell them yourself. However, the purchaser does need a current CCW and needs to sign a form which you can get online.

You know I have a lot of guns but I would say no only because the person that buys the gun probably wouldn’t register it & if you sold the gun, that gun would be registered in your name. I know if it were me selling a gun to someone I wouldn’t sell this person a gun until I took this person by the hand & made 100% sure it wasn’t in my name. Selling a gun to maybe an X prisoner or to someone that wants to commit a crime would be terrible! Never heard that you could sell a gun by just advertising it. If this were true that means you could sell a gun in a garage sale. What’s the difference selling a gun just listing it on TOTV or in a garage sale!

But would you honestly register it or not to keep anyone from knowing you have it. Not accusing you but this selling a gun just from advertising it just doesn’t sound right! I would say No gun sales by advertising!
