Just teasing.
Actually, I would be surprised if there isn't a study that hasn't been done. Accidents caused by alcohol vs cell phone use, putting on makeup, eating, reading, yelling at the kids, meds (legal and illegal), pets not in carriers, etc, etc...

What’s a great solution to stopping the smell while keeping law enforcement from arresting the culprits.

It really does seem to be an expanding problem that is coming from several places now here in the Villages. We have smelled it about everywhere.
Personally, I think this goes into the bin labelled "inconveniences I can do nothing about". As far as I am concerned having to deal with the smell of neighbors smoking pot is no more, or less, intrusive than lawn mower sounds, weed whackers, gas blowers, cigarettes and cigar smoke, music, loud talkers, etc. etc. I have chosen to live in a fairly densely populated neighborhood, as opposed to out in the country surrounded by acres of woods, and it's all part of the package.

My strategies usually are limited to going inside, closing my sliders, or putting on some of my own music, while wearing noise cancelling headphones.

The only distinction between these other intrusions and pot smell is the legality issue. But does that really matter? Does it change your effective options? Nah. Not really. It gives you an avenue to escalate the battle, but you won't win it. You'll only make your life more uncomfortable. Unless you enjoy going to battle with neighbors, just remove the "legality-illegality" aspect from the equation and deal with it the same way you'd deal with a legal intrusion into your comfort.

Good luck.

That is a good post that summarizes the situation very well. I have a friend that smokes daily and then goes to the swimming pool. He NEEDS to smoke pot to minimize back pain from a long ago motorcycle accident. He is a very nice person to talk to. He is very intelligent and has interesting opinions on most subjects.
.......Personally, I always liked the smell of pot. I am unhappy that the Florida referendum on pot did not pass, but it was close. Florida has a tendency to be a little too conservative on things like that for my taste.

"NEEDS tosmoke pot" ? That your friend needs medication is not being questioned. That marijuana contains chemicals that can give him relief is not in question. What is in question, at least for me, is, "are there no better pain killers available", and, if not, is "smoking", in a location where others may be subjected to his "medicine" and it's properties the only option, as opposed to edibles, sniffables (snuff) or inhalers, injectables, or a "safe room", where he can take his medicine in private and not expose others to the noxious side effects of his medical treatment? I wonder?

It may be a private nuisance. Consult an attorney. See attached link.

No. On TOTV means it is a public nuisance. But thanks for the info.

You can complain about it or do something about it. Have an attorney draft cease and desist letter. Follow with litigation if necessary.

Don’t know why these threads get hijacked with non responsive comments

Often a thread is just a conversation. Like at a party or any other gathering. Folks just joining in with their take on the subject. Most won't actually take action, but they will voice their opinion or, in some cases, share experiences. Circulate and find a subject that interests or entertains and join in. If not, move on to the next one.

Sad, isn't it? Oh, well, it is what it is, but not necessarily what it should be.

PS: jmho, but I still think pot, as does tobacco, stinks.

Happened to me too when I had a home with kissing lanai. I put fans facing those neighbors to blow the smoke back in their direction. Problem is they were used to the smell, so didn't bother them as much at it made me sick. Eventually, they moved and I moved.
