It really does seem to be an expanding problem that is coming from several places now here in the villages. We have smelled it about everywhere.

It would bother me a great deal if we had a heavy tobacco smoking neighbor, but I kinda like the smell of some good bud burning even though my toking days are long behind me.

OP have to say I don’t really notice weed smell south of 44, with the younger residents, compared to when we lived near LSL area, which seemed to be more prevalent.

Sorry weed not an issue for us….but the dollar store perfume that many bath in daily is everywhere. Why does the ne need to be overwhelmed with your cologne in retail, grocery and restaurants. Yesterday I was waiting in line at PO, a gentleman 2 people in front of me scent was so strong it made my eyes water. Two people in front of me moved behind me. I left not worth the headache.

Maybe put out a bunch of wind chimes on your lanai to scare them back to smoking indoors?

The people of Florida have certainly spoken. Well over 50% of the voters voted in favor of recreational cannabis legalization. Unfortunately the bar to pass it was set at 60%, and so the proposal failed.

But the majority WANTED it.

As for the smell - I don't mind the smell of the sticky buds before they're lit, but I'm not a fan of the smell of the smoked product. On the other hand, I am more repulsed by the stench of cigar smoke, which is LEGAL and disgusting. I am not fond of the smell of cigarette smoke but it isn't repulsive. It just makes me wheeze if it wafts up my nose from nearby.

The smell of people wearing too much aftershave or cologne is equally repugnant.

Do the police enforce it anymore?

If you can smell it, you're smoking it. Some % is getting in to your body. Greater the amount you inhale, the greater the effect. That being said, how high do you want to fly?

Oh! I just realized that I LOVE wind chimes. Think they would keep dogs off my lawn?

I need the big "C" in order to function. 3 to 6 mugs of Tim Hortons daily.

If there is cause to suspect one may be under the influence, I would think so. Same as alcohol, is my guess.

Excess use of "fragrance" is often a sign of poor hygiene.

It's also a sign of loss of the sense of smell. Many people genuinely don't know that they reek, so they keep spraying and spritzing and slapping more cologne onto their skin. Two factors going on with some people:

1. you (generic you, most people, the majority) are naturally desensitized to your own smell. That's whether you're wearing perfume or not. You just really don't know how strong the scent is, to everyone else who comes near you. It's a natural phenomenon.

2. as we age, our sense of smell is reduced. COVID knocked it completely out in a rare few people who lost it when they got sick and never got it back, and all sorts of illnesses can permanently reduce your sense of smell.

So - if you can't smell how strong it is, you're more likely to add more until you can smell it. Because you think it's not strong enough when it's actually overpowering.

To those who might be affected by this - or who wonder if they're the ones people are talking about...try this.

For spray cologne/perfume - spray it up, a few inches in front of your nose and a foot higher than your own height. Immediately duck and step forward so it lands on you. There. That's enough, you smell great.

For non-spray cologne: open the bottle. Hold your palm flat over the opening. Tilt the bottle so the cologne moistens that spot on your palm. Tilt it back and put the bottle down. That tiny bit of moistened palm? That's plenty. Slap both palms together, and pat the nape of your neck, the inside of each wrist, and the small of your back. There. You smell great.

For aftershave: Same as the non-spray cologne, but slap it on your cheeks, and WASH YOUR HANDS to get the excess off.

For perfume OIL (except for patchouli): 1 drop for your entire body. Mix it in with some unscented moisturizer if it helps.

For patchouli OIL: Mix 1 drop with 2 ounces of vegetable oil. Use one drop of THAT over your entire body.
