The biggest risks would be...
...if you have a gas fired water heater in garage..or..
...if you have a gas fired furnace in garage (think heating in Winter).
...if someone light a cigarette near the golfcart while charging it.
We are not even considering the Silver and Gold you have stored in your garage ...or.. the finish on your automobible or golfcar or golfglubs.

That stash of rifles and handguns and trophies would possibly have finish damage.

HOWEVER.....if you were charging the batteries...and...
..................the batteries had damages internal plates ..or
..................the batteries had low electrolyte levels....
..........( think the internal plates are not covered with distilled water)....
..the batteries would give off "Hydrogen Sulfide".

"Hydrogen Sulfide" is NASTY stuff.......
.....just 50 parts per million, you could smell it in the air,
can cause eye damage.

... 1000 parts per million in the air causes you to black out in ONE breath.

I open the golfcart garage door halfway up ...and...
.........place a fan so it will blow the gases OUT the door.
Why not just open the window? Every garage has one and Hydrogen gas will be up there not at ground level. Annndddd SNAKES CAN'T GET IN!!!!!

Every garage SHOULD have a window, but they don't. I leave the garage door open when charging. Never had a snake get in, just a few little geckos.

Never heard of a person being harmed by snakebite here in The Villages. But many are harmed or killed by poor driving. Choose a reasonable thing to worry about.

Well, Considering most of you folks live in the Villages, let me tell you, I live in Orlando, and I have seen more snakes here than when I was living up in Leesburg.
I have probably seen 4 black races at my house, and have to get rid of them because of the pets and that we are scared of them.
I usually go on the trail to bike, and one time I saw a python!!
Black racers are agressive when confronted, and they tend not to be very shy when getting around your house, so always keep clean, grass low and an eye for them
You can try Naphthalene to keep them away from your house.
They do sell it at Lowe or at home depot.
I have never seen rattlesnakes (thank God), but saw a red corn snake dead on the road one day.

hope this info helps!

I was trimming a bush up against the back of the house when I came face to face with a snake sitting at the top of the bush. It gave me a good startle

Maybe the best defense against a gator chasing you is the same as when a polar bear is chasing you . . .A SLOW FRIEND.

Shortly after we moved into our CYV two years ago in Southern Star Villas a neighbor found a rattlesnake in his garage. He had a corner lot and had planted a couple of pampas grass plants which had grown really big. That might of attracked the snake but soon after that, a gator was seen taking a stroll on Odessa Circle. That the street that encircles our villas and apparently was roaming from one pond to another on Yankee Clipper and Southern Star courses. Since we open our garage door everyday because of the heat and the laundry is in the garage, I soon had the horizontal screen sliders installed on my garage entrance and have never seen any pests in our garage. Why take a risk when the solution is so simple. It looks like this.

I also would recommend the garage screens. We just recently replaced our original one. Wouldn't be without it. We have seen the black snakes around out house. Usually in the bushes and one time 2 were sunning themselves on bushes towards he corner of our property (we have a corner lot). On keeping the garage door open when charging an electric cart, i guess we were lucky never did that with the electric cart we had for almost 10 years. We have a gas cart now so not an issue. On windows in garages maybe a home you design and order but in almost 12 years here I have never seen a garage with a window at least in my area.

oh my gosh there are snakes everywhere, you can't take a walk down the street without seeing a snake or sometimes an alligator ready to devour you favorite pet. and all of these critters get into the houses on a regular basis....check under your beds each night and never enter a dark bathroom. look under your car before you get in, something might be lurking underneath.
ok.....i am joking, but if i thought this would stop the mad rush to florida's friendliest town then.......maybe it would not be so crowded at publix on a saturday afternoon!
