My goodness, surely you are joking that you don't realize that "14 billion" is just for fun, like saying "we have a zillion things to chose from in the villages". It's a "cultural" thing to OVER exaggerate, so most recognize that. Now if someone said, we 3500 activities to chose from, THEN I am sure someone would know the exact number and make sure to correct the poster...LOL !

Illustrated
Survey Deadline: April 30, 2023

Our goal was a pasta dish that came together quickly, suitable for a weeknight. We wanted it to be hearty but not heavy.

After making this recipe, please click here to complete the survey by April 30, 2023.

Creamy Orecchiette and Navy Beans with Brussels Sprouts and Spicy Maple Bread Crumbs
Serves 4

→ You may substitute cannellini or pinto beans for the navy beans, and farfalle or campanelle for the orecchiette.
→ The pasta will continue to tighten up as it sits so add a little bit more pasta water than you think you’ll need.

¼ cup panko bread crumbs
2 teaspoons plus 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, divided
1 teaspoon maple syrup
1/8 teaspoon plus ½ teaspoon table salt plus salt for cooking pasta
Pinch cayenne pepper
12 ounces orecchiette
10 ounces Brussels sprouts, trimmed, halved, and sliced thin
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
½ teaspoon pepper
1 (15-ounce) can navy beans, undrained
½ cup sour cream

Bring 2 quarts water to boil in large saucepan. While water is coming to boil, combine panko, 2 teaspoons oil, maple syrup, ⅛ teaspoon salt, and cayenne in 12-inch nonstick skillet. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until panko is crunchy and caramel-colored, 3 to 5 minutes. Transfer to small bowl and let cool completely (do not wash skillet).
Add pasta and 1 ½ teaspoons salt to boiling water and cook, stirring often, until al dente. Reserve 1 cup cooking water and drain pasta. Return pasta to pot and cover to keep warm. While pasta is cooking, prepare Brussels sprouts.
Heat remaining 1 tablespoon oil in now-empty skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add Brussels sprouts, 1 tablespoon water, and remaining ½ teaspoon salt and stir to coat. Cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until sprouts are crisp-tender and bright green, about 4 minutes. Add mustard, vinegar, and pepper and stir until fully incorporated. Stir in beans and their liquid, and ¾ cup reserved cooking water and cook until bubbling.
Add Brussels sprout mixture and sour cream to pasta and stir until all ingredients are combined. Adjust consistency with additional pasta water as needed. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Divide among 4 shallow bowls. Break up bread crumbs with fingers and sprinkle over pasta. Serve.
This recipe is under development and is intended for America's Test Kitchen, Cook's Illustrated and Cook's
Shhhh…. It’s a secret.

New Recipe to Test: Creamy Orecchiette and Navy Beans with Brussels Sprouts and Spicy Maple Bread Crumbs
It was pretty good but who puts maple syrup crumbs on a pasta dish?? I definitely left that out and told them in my recipe review that I just could not do that to a pasta dish! Roasted the Brussel sprouts too for a deeper flavor. Enjoy the recipe y’all!!

But like I said, I'm not as crazy-active as some out there. (You know who you are! )

Maybe us folks who spend a considerable amount of time at home can post some thoughts so we can see what others do. It's possible some folks could discover something new and interesting. Let's share and see what happens. Here are a few of my home activities...

* I ride my bicycle almost every day. I also do some simple home exercise like pushups, crunches and such;
* I dabble in rhythm guitar. Rhythm keeps it fairly simple so a non rock start like me can enjoy it and get some satisfaction;
* We have a 7 month old puppy now, so it's very easy to spend time having fun with him;
* I read quite a bit;
* I meditate, not in a religious sense, but simple mindfulness meditation focusing on the breath;
* I video game, probably a little more than many of you. I was an early adopter and it's stuck with me to a degree. Of course some word, card, and similar games on my phone, but also some PC and console games;
* Watch video. Not a lot actually. Movies infrequently. TV shows a bit more;
* I keep a journal. Frequency of entries varies a lot, but it's very fun to look back on now and then.

Well? How about you folks? Let's share so we can discover our next great at home activity!
So is the inside of your house built in a circle or do you need to keep stopping to turn your bike around?

We we are at the house I will sit in my chair in one of 2 rooms with my iPad and phone while the tv is on, Chicago Fire on Tuesday, Blue Bloods on Wednesday and Chicago Fire on Thursday. On the other days it varies with Maine Cabin Masters, Beach Front Bargain hunt, Fixer Upper, MASH, Reba, Walker Texas Ranger among other shows.

Other things is weeding, cleaning, cooking.

We are our mostly riding in the golf cart, at the squares for music, eating out and playing a very little golf if I am healthy enough when we are down.

Twenty years ago, after examining my blood profile, my doctor indicated I have about 5 years left. This doctor is well known internationally, wrote in medical journals etc and has treated my mother and my brother for decades. I almost died right there, of fright. When I could pick myself up off the floor I decided to get a second opinion, went to the top dog in the field. He took my blood again himself, had it analyzed and commented, “You are as healthy as I am”. And I still am. Be careful of what you believe.

Great way to meet your neighbors, as they scream "Don't let your dog **** on my lawn!".

2,507. There are 2,507 clubs. The Villages says 2,500, but they are rounding.I'm kind of depressed that I knew this. Is this what it has come to?

I thought, after you mentioned the second doctor told you that you were as healthy as him, that he keeled over and died. Glad you are still around. I went through something similar when younger. Beat stage 3 C . Plan to keep on keeping on. Have a Great Day.
