Default Softballers?

If there are any softball players on TOTV, would you mind letting me know if a new resident can join the league in "mid-season". Thanks.

I believe every Tuesday is try out day. You are watched and put into a group with compartive skill levels. There are 4 seasons during one year. If needed you would be used. If not you would begin the next season. Info I heard, needs to be checked.

Many thanks, Starduster. I will check that out but it sounds like a plan! Appreciate your info.

Is there a softball league for non-runners? If so, anyone have any info on how to join them, etc.? Thanks.

This is for a male friend in a wheelchair. I have little depth perception, so ball games are not something I try to play but thanks for the offer.

I would also be interested in the softball tryout/league information. I went through the Rec News and there is not much there and no web link for info. I will be down for a few weeks in November and could tryout for a winter league. If anyone can offer any insight on the process or where to get more info, it would be greatly appreciated.

Ohio,

My husband just completed softball try-outs. Here is what he has to say. "Try-outs (evaluations), every Tuesday morning 8a.m. at Buffalo Glen". There are three evaluations and then placement. If you need more information, please PM me.

You will be placed?? Yeah right. I went for evaluations in May of 2007. I put a mark on the paper were it asks if you need a runner. Did my evals, and was put into the Neighborhood Lg. Played ONE game only as they expected me to run to 1st base (cannot run at all per doctors orders due to previous leg surgery). I was then told I would be "contacted" about going to a lower level where I would not have to run. That was 15 months ago. I have called, "We'll check into it, etc". I am no longer interested. Besides I'd like to start up my own "sandlot" team where we play in the evening and use wooden bats like you're supposed to use. (I checked with my stepdaughter in Orlando. She said emphatically that wooden bats were and still are okay to use. She's been playing softball for almost 10 years, so she know what is correct).

I think there are Neighboor leagues as well. One person in our Village is trying to form a team fro us. While I don't know the specifics, I would think these would have more flexiblity--neighbors, ya know, although still abide by certain overall guides. Last week while I was in TV that neighbor asked of my interest, I explained that I would be interested but couldn't committ to a full season (even with the multiple shorten seasons) since not here permanently yet. That didn't seem to present a problem. May be your neighbor has, or would be willing to form, its own team.
